2021 Isuzu mu-X Scores 5-Star Safety Rating at ASEAN NCAP

Just like the pickup truck on which it’s based on, the 2021 Isuzu mu-X scores a perfect 5-star ASEAN NCAP safety rating. It joins the D-Max which scored a 5-star rating at both the ASEAN NCAP as well as Euro NCAP.

Built on the all-new Dynamic Drive Platform, the 2021 mu-X is the first Isuzu SUV to use ultra-high-strength steel in its construction. This has paid off handsomely with the 2021 mu-X scoring 86.81 out of 100. This means it outdoes its predecessor’s 4-star rating when it was tested in 2016.

Because it shares its front-end crash structure and restraint system with the D-Max, the ASEAN NCAP has extended the pickup truck’s Adult Occupancy Protection (AOP) score of 42.17 out of 50 for the mu-X. Meanwhile, it managed to score 22.64 out of 25 in Child Occupancy Protection (COP).

With ABS, EBD, and stability control standard across all variants (autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, and blind spot indicators are available as fitment), it scores 22.01 out of 25 in Safety Assist Technology (SAT).

Isuzu Philippines has confirmed that the all-new mu-X, along with the all-new D-Max is slated for release within this year.
