SMC Asia Car Distributors Corporation heralds the arrival of the all-new 4 Series coupe. Available in two variants—the 420i Model Advantage and the 420i M Sport, the two-door, four-seater starts at P 3.990 million and comes with the premium segment’s longest warranty at 5 years or 200,000 kilometers.
The 2021 4 Series features the rather controversial “kidney lungs” grille which is vertically enlarged and joined in the middle. Supposedly harking back to classic coupe models of the past such as the BMW 328 and 3.0 CSi, this one adds its own modern twist. Full LED headlights and fog lights are standard.
The 420i Model Advantage features aluminum satinated trim surrounding the windows, as well as 18-inch alloy wheels, while the 420i M Sport gets fitted with the M aerodynamics package as well as larger 19-inch light alloy wheels.
Inside, the 4 Series is clear in its intent to deliver a driver-centric interior. The high-set center console is meant to create a sportier atmosphere. Four individual seats, finished in Sensatec leather in the 420i Model Advantage and Vernasca leather in the 420i M Sport provide comfort even for long journeys.
Other key features include acoustic glass, ambient lighting, power seat adjustment for the front (with memory for the driver), 40/20/40 split-folding rear seats, and an infotainment powered by the BMW Operating System 7.0. The Live Cockpit Plus pairs a 5.1-inch colored display for the driver, and an 8.8-inch control display and touch controller with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and voice commands.
The 4 Series also comes with BMW Parking Assistant which allows it to park automatically in either parallel or perpendicular spaces. Parking sensors with a rear camera is standard, too. Reversing Assistant is also standard allowing the vehicle it to remember the last 50 meters it has driven forward, allowing the system to take over reversing duties with memorized steering inputs while the driver applies the brake pedal.
At launch, BMW Philippines is only offering the 4 Series with one engine, and that’s a 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo 4-cylinder with 184 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque. This gasoline-fed engine is paired to an 8-speed automatic driving the rear wheels.
The all-new BMW 420i Model Advantage is priced at P 3.990 million and is available in the following colors: Black Sapphire, Mineral White, Bluestone Metallic, and the following optional colors: Jet Black, Arctic Race Blue, Alpine White, Sunset Orange, and Sanremo Green. Meanwhile, the BMW 420i M Sport is priced at P 4.590 million and will be offered in Alpine White, Arctic Race Blue, Black Sapphire, and will have Mineral White, M Portimao Blue, and Sanremo Green as optional choices.
184hp for a 2.0L turbo!!??! That's pretty weak
ReplyDeleteexactly. Very underwhelming for its price point too.
DeleteYou can buy the M135i with 300Hp/450Nm if that's pretty weak for you
DeleteID rather buy a Ford Mustang GT
ReplyDeleteSame price as the entry-level X3?
ReplyDeletekia stinger packs more practicality and power compared to this 4 series, at this price point they should have given it the 30i guise instead of 20i considering that at 1m dearer you could already get the 340i...
ReplyDeleteBugs Bunny teeth...
ReplyDeleteOld designs of bmw looks better. This definitely looks like designed by hitler.
