Volkswagen PH Launches Refreshed 2021 Santana for P 755k

Volkswagen Philippines is finally launching its refreshed Santana sub-compact sedan after teasing it last December. Dubbed as “your First German car,” the 2021 edition has an extra spring to its step thanks to new convenience features.

The 2021 Santana packs the features and amenities of previous Santana models into an updated edition available in two variants: the 180 MPI AT S and the 180 MPI AT SE. Both are now powered by a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine mated to a 6-speed automatic (with cruise control) capable of 111 horsepower and 145 Nm of torque. Equipped with BlueMotion technology, it results in frugal fuel consumption.

For 2021, the Santana gets new 15-inch alloy wheels. Further setting the top-of-the-line 180 MPI AT SE apart are: automatic headlights with leaving home and coming home functions, front fog lamps, intermittent front wipers with rain sensors, and a sunroof.

Inside, The 180 MPI AT SE also comes with leather/fabric combination seats, a height-adjustable front center arm rest, front and rear reading lights, and a multi-function steering wheel. This variant also comes with a touchscreen infotainment system with radio, USB, Bluetooth, and 6 speakers. An optional 7-inch infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is also available as a dealer option.

Apart from having dual front airbags, ESP, ABS and stability control as standard in the 2021 Santana 180 MPI AT S, additional features equipped in the SE variant including driver and front passenger side airbags and rear parking distance control.

This is combined with a comprehensive 3-year or 100,000 km-warranty coverage (whichever comes first), yearly preventive maintenance service or every 10,000 kilometers (whichever comes first), and 24/7 Emergency Roadside Assistance.

The 2021 Santana is offered in three colors: Polar White, Reflex Silver, and Deep Black. Prices are set at P 755,000 for the Santana 180 MPI AT S and P 898,000 for the Santana 180 MPI AT SE.

  1. Why Volkswagen PH? Why? The new polo sedan(MQB Based) is already being produced at the same factory this is made in by the same company in China, why continue with such an old platform?

    1. There's no such thing as that in SAIC Volkswagen plant in China..They won't sell here the Polo Plus hatchback due to pricing issues..Santana is much more cheaper to sell and practical.

  2. A car straight from the 90s. I hope they can upgrade its exterior. It kinda outdated.

  4. I don't really mind the design of the exterior. Just like me, I'm 28 btw, I like simplicity. The design may be old for some but I personally like it. There will be people who will get the vios or city instead of this but for some, like me, we prefer something like this and yes, I know how good vios is and given that this santana is made in China, I will still choose this one. Just have to convince my wife first. Lol.
