Honda Teases All-New 2022 Civic Hatchback

After showing it off in sedan form, Honda hasn’t wasted anytime and is already ready to unveil the all-new 2022 Civic Hatchback. And to whet your appetite, the carmaker has released this teaser photo.

Honda hasn’t revealed any powertrain details yet ahead of the launch (except that it will be made available with a 6-speed manual) which is slated for June 24, 2021, but from the silhouette alone it’s clear that it will take on roofline reminiscent of the City Hatchback.

Powertrain will likely be shared with the Civic sedan and with that, it will be powered by either a normally-aspirated 2.0-liter or a turbocharged 1.5 with 180 horsepower. In fact, it is promised for a release, at least in North America by late this year.

More importantly for enthusiasts, it will be the basis of the all-new Civic Type R which is expected to arrive sometime in 2023.

Since its launch in 1972, the Civic series has become a global success that is sold in over 170 countries, with total sales exceeding 27 million units worldwide. Honda says the Civic has always been at the forefront of small car trends, and the latest one will continue to capture customer needs and deliver an enjoyable ownership experience.

  1. My first driving experience with a CVT was the 2010 honda jazz. It was a horrifyingly awful transmission to drive. I swore never again to buy a car with a CVT. If only Honda (and Nissan) lets go of their love for CVT, maybe Ill consider buying their brand again.

    1. And I am happy that I enjoyed driving a car with a CVT because Honda will never let go of its love for CVT and I swore I will buy a car with a CVT and an electric car for that matter.
