Chevrolet PH To Target Heart Of Sub-Compact SUV Segment With P 1.142M Tracker

Update: Get the full info here (7/1).

After a couple of years being away from the limelight, The Covenant Car Company, Inc. (TCCCI) re-starts Chevrolet’s rebound in the Philippines with the launch of the all-new Tracker sub-compact SUV.

Targeted squarely at the “internet generation,” the Tracker adopts Chevrolet’s new-generation SUV design language. It features a dynamic posture with Z-shaped lines across the body to deliver a youthful look and vibe.

The Tracker also embodies Chevrolet’s “lean muscularity” design language to help it stand out from the competition. It’s characterized by a U-shaped surface on the hood, which adds a sense of power. Double L-shaped LED daytime running lights are standard.

The Tracker is also the first Chevrolet model in the Philippines to get a sporty Redline variant. Inspired by Chevrolet’s long racing heritage, the Tracker Redline gets a blacked out dual-grille design with a black bowtie badge, horizontal red accents, and black 17-inch wheels.

For the Philippine market, the Tracker is available solely with a turbocharged 1.0-liter 3-cylinder engine. While it may offer a small displacement, it does generate 123 horsepower at 5,800 rpm and 180 Nm of torque from 1,350 to 4,400 rpm. This engine is mated solely to a 6-speed automatic. All in all, it’s capable of doing a 180 km/h top speed, while still achieving 18 km/L (city) and 20 km/L (highway) thanks to an idle start-stop system.

Inside, the Tracker benefits from a keyless push-start system, automatic climate control, and the Chevrolet MyLink infotainment system with an 8-inch touchscreen. Apple CarPlay is standard as is Bluetooth connectivity. It also gets a leather steering wheel and cloth/leather combination seats.

Now comes the interesting part. The pricing. The Tracker starts at P 1,142,888 for the 1.0 LS and tops out at P 1,242,888 for the 1.0 Redline. However, Chevrolet is extending a P 30,000 introductory price discount until September 30 which drops the prices to P 1,112,888 for the 1.0 LS and P 1,242,888 for the 1.0 Redline.

More detailed information will be revealed after the Tracker’s formal launch this afternoon.

  1. It may seem Good news for the loyal fans of Chevy philippines but very disappointing for the subcompact Crossover enthusiasts. First the SRP too hi to compete against the perennial Leaders like The CoolRay, Tiggo7 Pro, MG ZS and Territory. Second the 1.0L Engine they should have brought the 1.3L Turbocharged which has 160+ BHp and 240NM Torque. A terrible mistake Management decision made by TCCCi. What a shame. They should have learned their Lesson from the past. Better buy an MG RX5.

    1. it's possible that Chevy's positioning it with the likes of the Toyota Rush, Honda HR-V, and other more expensive subcompact SUV's/Crossovers....

  2. Some car company has suffered with the influx of good specced but low priced crossovers. As an example Hyundai has discontinued the Santa Fe and Tucson. Honda has discontinued the Mobilio and Fit/Jazz. Mazda has discontinued the CX-3.

  3. Good lord, stay away from Chevy and other "GM-engineered" cars (if they did any real engineering to begin with). Combo'd with a distributor who has zero-covenant to quality and customer service you're car is gonna be a money pit after 3 years. Ever since I switched to a japanese brand, the difference is just night & day, G*****N NIGHT & DAY - from reliability to refinement. That company should've not been given bailout money during the financial crisis.

  4. Some car companies still aren't getting with the times. The shift on consumer preferences is happening, and it's leaving some brands behind who refuse to shift to the "more for less" offering when it comes to cars.

  5. Sir Ulysses Ang, for clarification, does the Tracker have no blind spot monitoring, lane departure warning, and other safety features present in other crossovers? If this is the case, then it is very disappointing for a former Chevy owner like my family :( We currently have a Toyota vehicle, but Chevy still has a soft spot in my heart.

  6. I'm really wondering about the success discrepancy between Chevrolet Phils and MG Phils, considering that they are basically the same dealership company ☹️
