Toyota Celebrates The Supra's 35th Anniversary With These 2 Special Edition Models

It’s hard to imagine, but it has been 35 years since Toyota decided to spin off the Supra nameplate to become a unique model. To celebrate that milestone, Toyota is releasing two very limited special edition models only for its home market of Japan.

Only 35 of the Toyota GR Supra RZ 35th Anniversary Edition and 35 of the GR Supra SZ-R 35th Anniversary Edition will be made, and these will end up only in Japan in a “first-come, first-served basis” until August 31. After that, Toyota will resort to a lottery if you can get an allocation.

Distinguishing these from regular GR Supras, both models receive 19-inch forged aluminum wheels painted in matte black outside, while inside there’s a 35th anniversary carbon ornament in front of the passenger’s side dashboard.

The RZ 35th Anniversary Edition is available solely in Matte Storm Gray exterior paint with red leather seats inside, while the SZ-R 35th Anniversary Edition comes in a choice of five exterior colors including Lightning Yellow along with red-painted brake calipers and matte black side mirrors. Inside, it has aluminum sports pedals and red Alcantara/Leather seats.

Mechanically, Toyota didn’t change anything so the RZ 35th Anniversary shares the A91’s 387-horsepower, 500 Nm of torque 3.0-liter inline-6, while the SZ-R 35th Anniversary gets the high-output 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder with 258 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque.

Pricing starts at 6.535 million yen (P 2.984 million) for the GR Supra SZ-R 35th Anniversary, and 7,835,000 million yen (P 3.57 million) for the GR Supra RZ 35th Anniversary.
