Yes, Toyota Is Giving The Avanza The Gazoo Racing Treatment As Well

The current-generation Toyota Avanza is starting its long goodbye in Indonesia by getting its very own Gazoo Racing (GR) treatment.

Based on the top-of-the-line Avanza Veloz, the Avanza Veloz GR Limited gets new sportier-looking bumpers for both the front and back. The lower grille has also been changed, and of course, it also gets the GR logo there too. Adding to the racier look are black side mirrors and black-painted 15-inch alloy wheels. Inside, the Avanza Veloz GR Limited gets a monotone black dashboard with high-grade black and red fabric seats. It also gets a push-button engine start-stop and a digital-type aircon cluster.

Remarkably, Toyota Indonesia isn’t just limiting this GR-speced Avanza Veloz to just one engine or transmission configuration. Instead, they’re making it available in both 1.3-liter and 1.5-liter flavors, and in both manual and automatic too.

Officially, the Avanza Veloz GR Limited isn’t limited in terms of quantity, but Toyota Indonesia did confirm that they will only be producing this special variant for a limited time only. Why? That’s because the all-new Avanza is expected to bow in globally by November of this year.

While this Gazoo Racing treatment is purely aesthetic for the Avanza, it could nonetheless signal a sportier direction that Toyota wants to make even with its entry-level MPV. Could an Innova GR Sport be in the works too? Likely.
