2022 Toyota Hilux GR Sport To Be Priced At P 1.995M

Update: Toyota has revealed that the Hilux GR Sport will be unveiled on October 23 (10/20).

Barely two weeks after it was spied being prepped for delivery to dealerships, more (and clearer) photos of the upcoming 2022 Toyota Hilux GR Sport have emerged.

In the previous leak, the Hilux GR Sport was shown in the Emotional Red color. This color is the very same one found on the GR Yaris and is also an available P 15,000 extra on the Hilux Conquest. This time, it shows how the Hilux GR Sport looks like in Attitude Black Mica.

With the protective stickers peeled off, it’s now very clear how the Hilux GR Sport looks with unique grille and bumper treatment. The “TOYOTA” spelt out is a very nice touch as are the body-colored fender flares with gloss black accents. Also confirmed for the Philippine market are GR-specific 18-inch wheels.

Clearer photos of the interior show the suede and leather combination seats with the GR logo on the headrest, smoked silver and high-gloss black accents dotting the cabin, aluminum pedals, and a GR steering wheel with a red marker at the 12 o’clock position. Close-ups of the tiller also confirm that the local spec Hilux GR Sport will not have Toyota Safety Sense. It will have paddle shifters and cruise control though.

Also confirmed are features such as dual-zone climate control (the AC panel is actually new) as well as an 8-inch infotainment system also found in the Hilux Conquest.

As for the powertrain, the 2022 Hilux GR Sport will use the very same running gear found in the Hilux Conquest 4x4. This means it’ll have access to the 2.8-liter 1GD-FTV good for 204 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque. The sole transmission will be 6-speed automatic. Four-wheel drive with a rear locking differential will be standard too. Separating the Hilux GR Sport from the Conquest 4x4 though are new monotube shock absorbers for better ride and handling.

Now comes the most awaited part: the price. As a refresher, the upgraded Hilux Conquest 4x4 has seen its price bumped up to P 1,875,000 thanks to a slew of new features. Meanwhile, the 2022 Hilux GR Sport adds a P 120,000 premium. This brings its SRP to P 1,995,000.

By comparison, it’s most notable rival, the Ranger Raptor is priced P 3,000 more at P 1,998,000.

According to sources, supply of the Hilux GR Sport is limited due to the ongoing global parts shortage. In fact, some dealers report that they may only get one or two units as part of their allocation at least for the next few months.

  3. No other Truck in the market now that can be outgunned FORD Raptor. At almost 2M It's the best all around Pick-up. But if you want Bargain Truck better switch to Mitsubishi Strada.
