We're Not So Sure About This MG ZS Redesign

Remember the MG ZS EV? One of the new vehicles promised by Philippine distributor The Covenant Car Company, Inc. (TCCCI) to launch this year alongside the refreshed (and turbocharged) ZS T? Well, this is what it looks like now and we’re not sure if we’re liking it.

Set to arrive in European showrooms by next month, the 2022 MG ZS EV swaps out its conventional front-end with one that’s pretty unique to the electric-only front. The lack of a front grille throws the entire design out of whack, but MG says there’s a reason for this: improved aerodynamics. Aside from the stamped-effect grille, the new MG ZS EV also gets a re-designed rear bumper and new wheels.

There will be two versions of the MG ZS EV, including a Trophy version and two battery sizes: 51 kWh and 72 kWh. The smaller battery version gets about 318 kilometers on a single charge, while the larger battery one does about 439 kilometers.

Using a rapid charger, MG says the long range 72 kWh variant can be topped up in as little as 42 minutes (10 and a half hours on a standard 7 kW charger).

Like the MG ZS T, the MG ZS EV gets a 10.1-inch tablet-style touchscreen with new graphics and improved functionality. It also gets a new instrument cluster and wireless phone charging.
