Geely Philippines Appoints New President As Chinese Brand Hits 10,000-Unit Sale Milestone

Sojitz G Auto Philippines (SGAP) announces the appointment of its new President and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Yugo Kiyofuji (right in lead photo), effective April 1, 2022.

Mr. Kiyofuji succeeds Mr. Yosuke Nishi who eventually started the Geely business in the Philippines back in 2019. During his tenure, SGAP closed 2021 with the total sales of 6,104 units, increasing the sales by 183 percent vs 2020 with only 3 models. Furthermore, SGAP accomplished its 10,000th accumulated sales milestone in March 2022 in just 2 years and 8 months which is one of the fastest feats in the industry.

Mr. Kiyofuji, assuming SGAP President and CEO position, has around 20 years automotive experience after being with other OEM and automotive related companies in various overseas markets, such as, Middle East, Latin America and Australia.

Simultaneously, Mr. Kazuki Sugino will assume the Chief Administrative Officer position in order to strengthen the quality of operation throughout SGAP. Mr. Sugino played an executive role in Sojitz Headquarters and various companies including other automotive distributor in Philippines for 5 years. The management changes this time illustrate the strategic importance of SGAP among Sojitz group of companies.

“I am very grateful for the customers and business partners who accepted and supported the Geely brand up to now that enabled us to become top 10 automotive brand within a short period of time,” Kiyofuji said.

“Our role is to take SGAP to the next level and become one of the top passenger vehicle brands by 2025, strengthening our dealer network as well as exceeding the customer expectation. I am very much excited to take on the challenges ahead and committed to leave no stones unturned to achieve our mid-term goal,” he added.

  1. MG Ph was ahead in sales last year, but I think Geely Ph will do everything to beat the Chinese brand rival this year.
