2023 Mitsubishi ASX To Get Turbocharged, Electrified Powertrains

Mitsubishi Motors has released engine details for its 2023 ASX compact crossover ahead of its global debut in September.

Developed for the European market (still no word if it will go global), the 2023 ASX will be based off the Renault Captur. It’s no surprise, therefore, that they share pretty much the same powertrain line-up.

For traditional combustion engines, the line-up starts with a turbocharged 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine with 97 horsepower mated to a 6-speed manual. Then, it moves up to a turbocharged 1.3-liter with two states of tune—140 horsepower (6-speed manual) and 158 horsepower (7-speed dual clutch).

The 2023 ASX will also be offered with electrified powertrains. The 1.6-liter Hybrid mates a 1.6-liter engine with a 1.3-kWh battery offering a combined 145 horsepower, while a Plug-In Hybrid version with a 10.5-kWh battery produces a total of 160 horsepower.

The 2023 ASX is the first full model change for Mitsubishi’s compact crossover in 14 years.
