Mitsubishi Teases All-New Renault-Based 2023 ASX

As part of its announced Alliance roadmap, Mitsubishi has released the first teaser of its all-new 2023 ASX.

The ASX will be based on the Renault Captur which uses the Alliance CMF-B platform. The platform is also shared with the all-new Nissan Juke.

The teaser shows a curvier look compared to other Mitsubishi designs that tend to be angular. It also looks to sport a coupe-like roofline and prominent wheel arches. At the front, it seems to have a grille that blends into the headlamp assembly.

Aside from platform, the all-new ASX is set to share powertrains and will be assembled in Valladolid in Spain for the European market. Looking at the Renault Captur, it will be offered in both hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions. The former is good for 140 horsepower, while the latter does 160 horsepower.

The current ASX has soldiered on for a considerable length of time. It received its third facelift in the first quarter of 2019, following a prior revision in 2017 and the 2013 version before that, itself being an update of the original in 2010.

The all-new ASX will be one of two models based on Renault models. While Mitsubishi has not revealed details of what the second car could be, it is rumored to be the all-new Mirage.

The 2023 ASX is expected to hit the European market by the first quarter of 2023.
