The 2023 Toyota Sequoia Now Comes With A Standard Twin-Turbo Hybrid Engine

Toyota unveils the all-new, third-generation Sequoia SUV. The three-row large SUV has been redesigned from the ground up and aims to elevate luxury, comfort, and technology in its class.

For the first time ever, the 2023 Sequoia will employ a twin-turbo hybrid V6. The i-Force Max, with an electric motor generator housed within the bell housing sandwiching the engine and gearbox, produces 437 horsepower and 790 Nm of torque. This is then mated to a 10-speed automatic in both two- and four-wheel drive variants. The part-time 4WD relies on a transfer case controlled via a lever on the center console with 2WD, 4WD High, and 4WD Low modes.

A Drive Mode Select offers up to five driving modes: Eco, Normal, Sport, Sport+, and Tow/Haul. In the last three, the powertrain makes use of the electric motor to boost low-end responsiveness. It can tow an impressive 4,000 kilograms (9,000 pounds).

Riding on the same platform as the Land Cruiser 300 and Lexus LX, the 2023 Sequoia features increased rigidity thanks to laser welding technologies. At the front is a new independent suspension system with a rack-mounted EPS for improved steering feel. At the back is a multi-link rear suspension. A load-levelling rear suspension or Adaptive Variable Suspension are available options.

The 2023 Sequoia offers a range of interior configurations including an option to fit the second row with Captain’s Seats. The third row, meanwhile offers a reclinable backrest and can be slid fore and aft up to six inches. The cargo hold itself features a segment-first adjustable cargo shelf for the ultimate in flexibility.

Convenience features include a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 14-speaker JBL sound system, a Panoramic View Monitor, moonroof, and a hands-free power tailgate.

All 2023 Toyota Sequoia models comes fitted with Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 which adds low light pedestrian and cyclist detection, intersection assist, and emergency steering assist.

The Sequoia will be built in San Antonio, Texas and will be available starting in the middle of 2022.

  1. Since it is being built in San Antonio, Texas, no chance of it coming to the Philippines :(

  2. Many filipino politicians to buy this. Dahil malapit na ang halalan maraming bibili ng ganitong kotse, tulad ng Toyota Land Cruiser, Toyota Sequoia, Chevrolet Suburban, Chevrolet Tahoe, Ford Expedition, Nissan Patrol, Lincoln Navigator, GMC Yukon and Cadillac Escalade.
