Volkswagen Shows Honest, Tough Styling Of 2023 Amarok Pickup Truck

Volkswagen continues teasing the all-new Amarok pickup truck (check out their first teaser here, and second teaser here). Based off the next-generation Ford Ranger platform, the Amarok is confirmed to get bigger, more premium, and more powerful than ever before.

Arriving before the end of the year as a 2023 model, the Amarok will be about 100 millimeters longer and 40 millimeters wider than the current Volkswagen pickup truck. In addition, it will gain design traits that will make it look tough and honest. Volkswagen points to cues such as the body cladding running the entire length of the lower body to show that.

Volkswagen also promises that the all-new Amarok will gain an upgraded interior experience too. The sketch reveals what look to be a fully digital instrument cluster as well as a large infotainment screen mounted at the center. Designers also say it will have an “uncluttered architecture” with “elements designed in a machine-like fashion.”

In terms of performance, Volkswagen has confirmed that a turbo diesel V6 will be among the available engine choices, while also packing more driver assist systems and connectivity functions.

Although the Amarok’s development coincides with that of the Ranger, Volkswagen has confirmed that the Amarok will only be made in one facility for now: Silverton, South Africa. Sadly, this reduces the chance of seeing this pickup truck for the ASEAN market.
