Hyundai Philippines Teases 2023 Stargazer MPV

After its global unveil last July and confirmation that it was arriving before the end of 2022, Hyundai Motor Philippines is starting the tease of the first-ever 2023 Stargazer—it’s entry in the hotly contested small MPV segment. Check out the teaser video posted below.

The Stargazer brings futuristic style bundled with practical features sought after by families. It has a Sleek One Box shape. Along with the One Curve design, it makes for an optimized cabin height. Upfront, it has full-width horizontal DRL which is inspired by the fact that Southeast Asia is located near the equator. At the back, the rear lamps feature a distinctive “H” design is meant to embody the connection between East and West.

Inside, the Stargazer’s design revolves around Multifunctional Storage Space and this peppers the passengers with versatile storage, some cleverly hidden from sight. Some include small trays, cup holders, extra pockets, picnic tables, and more.

Hyundai Motor Philippines has yet to confirm what features and seating configuration the local model will get, but for the Indonesian market, it does get a standard second row Captain’s seats. It also gets a 4.2-inch TFT color LCD instrument cluster, an 8-inch display audio system with smartphone connectivity, and a wireless charger.

Globally, the Stargazer uses just one engine and that’s a 1.5-liter MPI 4-cylinder engine good for 115 horsepower and 144 Nm of torque. This is then mated to a CVT gearbox with a built-in step logic (IVT). A 6-speed manual is also available. It also comes with Hyundai SmartSense which offers Forward Collision Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Blindspot Collision Avoidance Assist, and Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Avoidance Assist.

With Hyundai touting connected technologies, the Stargazer could potentially be the launch platform for Hyundai Bluelink. In Indonesia, this connected car service offers functions such as vehicle health monitoring, remote engine on/off, remote air conditioning on/off, and even a vehicle locator. The technology can also provide Stolen Vehicle Notification & Stolen Vehicle Tracking, Stolen Vehicle Immobilization, ACN (Auto Collision Notification), SOS/Emergency Assistance, Roadside Assistance. (RSA), and other security features.

In Indonesia, the 2023 Stargazer is available in four variants: Active, Trend, Style, and Prime. Prices range from IDR 243,300,000 (P 914,560) to IDR 307,100,000 (P 1.115 million).

  1. Most likely the prices of Hyundai Stargazer will be near the Creta SUV.
Good luck to Hyundai Philippines and I hope they've got enough units of this on sale immediately in the market.

    1. Makes sense if it will be priced near Creta TOTL(?) so that it would compete well with the Xpander, Ertiga/XL7 and Avanza/Veloz.

  2. At least the Creta doesn't have a long waiting list. l just visited a dealership & they are aggressively encouraging people to go on a test drive.
