LRT-1 Cavite Extension Hits 73 Percent Completion, Warns Of Lane Closures Until November 10

LRT-1 private operator Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) performs non-stop works for the Phase 1 of the 11.7 km LRT-1 Cavite Extension Project. The 73percent overall progress rate as of end August 2022 covers the ongoing electromechanical works such as the laying of rails and installation of the electrical system, as well as the construction of the additional five new LRT-1 stations for Phase 1: Redemptorist, MIA, PITX Asia World, Ninoy Aquino, and Dr. Santos.

Trackwork installation is now halfway complete with recent activities such as the simultaneous installations of pre-track assembly, shear connector, rebar, formworks support for track plinth, concrete pouring, and derailment wall.

With the project in full swing, the installation of tracks and overhead catenary system on the viaduct will continue at Ninoy Aquino Station which required a temporary closure of a portion of the outer lane (northbound) of Imelda Bridge linking Barangays La Huerta and Sto. Niño in Parañaque City on October 10, 2022 until November 10, 2022 (9 PM to 4 AM daily). This is to give way to the casting of concrete plinths and pedestals in the area.

Column and pier cleanup, including finishing works, will also commence at CAVITEX-Parañaque Bridge starting 7AM of October 15, 2022 until 11AM of October 16, 2022. This will require temporary closure of the inner/leftmost northbound of the carriageway.

Motorists are advised to plan their trips ahead and take alternative routes.
