Lexus Teases First-Ever TX: Their Latest Three-Row SUV

Lexus is going big on anything with three rows. After showing off the all-new Lexus LM at Auto Shanghai, the Japanese luxury carmaker is almost ready to show off its new three-row SUV, the TX. Here’s your first look.

The teaser shows that the first-ever Lexus TX would have a formal roofline—an indication that it’ll have a hospitable third-row. It also looks to carry on the floating roof motif seen in other Lexus models thanks to its blacked-out C-pillar. With two other three-row SUVs in the market—the GX and the LX—Lexus is positioning the TX as a more road-going model as indicated by its body-colored fender cladding.

Speaking of the GX and LX, unlike those two SUVs, the TX is a unibody SUV. In fact, it’ll use the recently-introduced Toyota Grand Highlander as basis. This should give it greater interior space and better driving dynamics than Lexus’s last three-row SUV attempt, the RX L. Oh, and given how they’ve been electrifying their line-up recently, it’s very likely that the Lexus TX will have a hybrid powertrain as well.

Oddly enough, Lexus didn’t provide an exact date for the global reveal, but expect that it’s coming real soon.

  1. Somewhat like a Toyota Fortuner from the side profile.
