Zircon Sand Adds A Rugged Touch To Mazda3, CX-30

If you ever wondered how the rugged Zircon Sand color would look like on Mazda’s sleeker products, wonder no more.

Just announced for the U.S. market is the new Carbon Turbo edition of the Mazda3, CX-30, and CX-5.

As a color, Zircon Sand was first introduced in the CX-50 and it’s supposedly inspired by the color of sand used in engine casting. While the Philippines doesn’t get the CX-50, the color eventually made its way onto the CX-5 Turbo and MX-5 as well.

Now, with the Carbon Turbo models, the CX-30 and Mazda3 is now available with the color.

Aside from the new colorway, the Carbon Turbo models get black exterior accents such as the grille, wheels, and side mirrors.

Going with the color, Mazda has also played with the interior color as well. These models get the terracotta brown nappa leather seats, but here, they’ve added black suede accents. Gunmetal accents also happen to replace the high-gloss one found in the non-Carbon Turbo variants.

Exclusively powered by Mazda’s 2.5-liter turbocharged Skyactiv-G, these models offer up to 256 horsepower and 434 Nm. This is paired with a six-speed automatic with i-Activ all-wheel drive.

For now, the Mazda Carbon Turbo models remain a North America exclusive, however, don’t be surprised if the carmaker would soon offer Zircon Sand as a color option on the updated Mazda3 and CX-30 which are due sometime later this year.
