Honda Cars PH To Launch New Brio Alongside Refreshed City

Looks like this coming week will be busy for small cars. After the Honda City, Nissan Almera, and Toyota Wigo were all confirmed for a Philippine market launch on the 13th, 10th, and 14th, respectively, Honda Cars Philippines has another surprise: the new Brio.

Debuting alongside the new City, the new Brio will be refreshed—its first since 2018 (2019 in the Philippines).

Officially, Honda Cars Philippines has kept details under wraps but, based on what’s been launched in Indonesia, the new Brio sports a new grille (dark chrome diamond on the Brio RS), bumpers, headlights (LED on the Brio RS), and wheels.

Inside, they could both get digital-type AC controls, an auto up/down driver’s window, and an illuminated shift indicator for the CVT variants. The Brio RS meanwhile could get a new gauge cluster along with an Apple CarPlay/Android Auto compatible infotainment system. For the Indonesian market, it even gets a smart entry system with push-button start-stop.

Mechanically, the new Brio remains unchanged. This means it’s still powered by a 1.2-liter SOHC i-VTEC 4-cylinder engine making a respectable 90 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 110 Nm of torque at 4,800 rpm. Depending on the variant, it’s available with the same transmission options: a 5-speed MT or a CVT.

The Brio, alongside the updated City, will make its public debut at the SM Megamall Fashion Hall starting July 13. It will be displayed there throughout the weekend.
