GAC Motor PH Adds AWD To GS8 Mid-Sized SUV For P 2.648M*

Coinciding with GAC Motor Philippines’ 276 percent year-on-year sales growth, the Chinese carmaker has previewed its newest flagship SUV: the GAC GS8 2.0T AWD.

Priced at P 2,648,000 or P 250,000 more than the GS8 2.0 2WD, the all-wheel drive variant gets all the trimmings of the 2WD along with more drive modes for various terrain, a 10-speaker Alpine sound system, and a ventilated center armrest compartment.

Reservations are now being accepted at all 16 GAC Motor dealerships nationwide and as further enticement, it comes with a P 100,000 discount (effective price: P 2,548,000) until September 30. Customer deliveries will start soon.

According to GAC Motor Philippines, the brand has so far achieved a seven-month streak of record sales. Ever since Astara Philippines took over the distributorship, they have sold 825 units.

The brand is also short of four dealerships of the 20 projected to open before the end of 2023 so far.

    1. Yeah. Jun is out. A replacement will be named soon.

    2. He was not really the right guy to get the job done. He managed Kia Maxus & VW for AC Motors and they are all weak brands under AC Motors.

  4. 2.0-liter engine for a mid-sized SUV.... sounds like it's too small.

    1. That turbocharged engine performs like a 2.8 liter

    2. It's hard to pass off judgment unless you've driven the car yourself. We have a turbocharged 2.0 diesel mid-sized SUV that puts out 245 hp and 500 nm and it's much faster than our 4.0 V6 gas and 4.5 V8 diesel SUVs.

    3. Diesel naman yan. Hindi gasolina. Apples to oranges comparison

    4. Did you read my comment? Yes, I mentioned a 4.0 V6 gas engine, but also a 4.5 V8 "Diesel" engine and a turbocharged 2.0 "Diesel" engine.

    5. Oh never mind, I really thought the GS8's engine was a diesel. My apologies.

    6. Mind you that there's really no replacement for displacement. Not even turbo.

  5. it will be very taxing for 20.L with that heavy weight

  6. Gasoline consumption must be high with such size and weight.

  8. After sales service and parts availability seems like a question mark at this point in time...

    1. based on the geely fiasco, it's more of an exclamation mark already than a question mark

    2. GAC is just fine as Astara can handle the problem easily
Geely problem was overblown too much as one dealer only got problem with the after sales service.
Toyota,Isuzu,Mitsubishi,Ford ,Nissan and Honda fanboys who are cyberbullies rode too much in the issue when in reality their favorite brands aren't perfect too.

    3. It wasn't overblown. It's reality. Asan yung mga ibang reklamo sa Toyota, Isuzu, Mitsubishi, Ford ,Nissan and Honda kung talagang may problema din sila hmm?

    4. The dealer in question is directly owned and managed by SGAP though. It just goes to show, even if your dealership is directly or indirectly distributor-owned/affiliated, you're still not guaranteed an excellent aftersales experience.

  10. Awesome specs and looks. But with that pricing, conservative buyers will steer towards the new CX60 or CRV.

Quite surprising to change heads quickly if the only reason are missed projections. GAC is still growing remarkably and maybe they need to revisit their optimistic figures rather than replacing their leaders fast
