2024 Mitsubishi Triton: The Full Specs, Features

After a lengthy pre-selling period and even a last-minute adjustment in its price (at least for the top-of-the-line Athlete 4WD variant), Mitsubishi Motors Philippines has finally launched the all-new Triton pickup truck.

Since our coverage about the Triton has already been extensive (read our First Drive or watch it on YouTube), this time we are concentrating on the full specs. You can skip to the table below if you want all the nitty-gritty, but read on if you want the cliff notes version. Oh, and before you ask, the table is high-res so save that on your computer or phone for reference.

2024 Mitsubishi Triton Variants

For the Philippine market, there are a total of seven variants for the all-new Triton—four of them being 2WD and three of them being 4WD. They also come in four basic grades—GL, GLX, GLS, and Athlete. Surprisingly, the 2WD is the only one offering the GLS variant, while the 4WD is the only one offering the Athlete.

2024 Mitsubishi Triton Engine & Transmission

There are two basic engines for the Triton, but both of them having the same 4N16 engine code. The difference? All but the Triton 4WD Athlete use a single-stage turbocharger putting out 183 horsepower at 3,500 rpm and 430 Nm of torque at 2,250-2,500 rpm. Meanwhile, the two-stage turbocharger on the Triton Athlete bumps up the figures to 204 horsepower at 3,500 rpm and 470 Nm at 1,500 to 2,750 rpm. It’s worth noting that this two-stage turbocharged engine requires Euro 5 fuel as it’s equipped with a diesel particulate filter or DPF.

Across the entire range would be a gearbox with six forward ratios—both in manual or automatic flavors. However, only the Triton Athlete gets the benefit of 7 Drive Modes.

2024 Mitsubishi Triton Suspension and Off-Road Credibility

All but the Triton GL gets 222 mm of minimum ground clearance. The Triton GL, being a “low rider” variant does with just 203 mm. Regardless of ride height though, the suspension setup features front independent double wishbones, while at the back is a rigid-type suspension with leaf springs. It also gets a traditional front disc brake, rear drum brake combination. Electric Power Steering is standard only on the Triton Athlete, whereas the rest get old-school hydraulic assisted steering. Also, no electronic parking brake here, just a traditional hand brake. Triton 4WD variants except the Triton GL 4WD MT get a standard rear locking differential.

In terms of key numbers, the all-new Triton (at least in the high-riding guise) gets:
  • Approach Angle: 29 or 30.4 degrees (depending on bumper)
  • Breakover Angle: 23.6 degrees
  • Departure Angle: 22.8 degrees

2024 Mitsubishi Triton Exterior Features

The Triton Athlete and the Triton GLS 2WD may differ in aesthetics, but dig deeper and they’re essentially the same. These two variants are the only ones to enjoy smart keyless entry (the others use a more traditional key fob), multi-projector LED headlights, LED front fog lights, LED rear combination lamps, rain-sensing wipers, and a standard styling bar on the bed.

18-inch alloys (18 x 7.5 J) are standard on all except the Triton GL variant (they get 16 inchers), and get this, they all get the same sized tire: 265/60R18!

2024 Mitsubishi Triton Interior Features

Only the Triton Athlete gets seats covered in synthetic leather with a quilted suede knit insert; the rest are only equipped with fabric seats. The same thing can be said about a powered driver’s seat (10-way). Thankfully, the 7-inch colored multi-information screen is also found in other Triton variants barring the base GL. Ditto a tilt/telescopic steering wheel.

The GL variant has manual air conditioning controls, while the GLX has a single-zone system. Want dual zone climate control? You have to fork out for either the Triton GLS 2WD or the Triton Athlete. And only the Triton Athlete gets the ceiling-mounted air circulator (sorry, no rear vents here).

Standard on most Triton variants is an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but on the Triton GLS and Triton Athlete can you get a 9-inch screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and offline GPS (the GL makes do with a base integrated audio system). The touchscreen-based systems automatically get both USB Type A and Type C connectors, while the Triton GL gets only USB Type A ports.

2024 Mitsubishi Triton Safety Features

Safety features on the Triton include three SRS airbags, ABS with EBD, brake assist, and Active Stability and Traction Control with Hill Start Assist. Hill Descent Control only comes on the Triton Athlete. A rear camera is standard on the GLX, while opting for the GLS or the Athlete upgrades that to a 360-degree camera. Want seven airbags or parking sensors (front and rear) or Active Yaw Control or a full suite of advanced driver assist? That’s only available on the Triton Athlete.

  1. Does it have TPMS?

  2. The overall specs lag behind rivals such as the Hilux and Ranger. Specifically, the TOTL 4X2 GLS doesn't come with leather seats, powered seats, rear AC vents, dash cupholders (this feature is exclusive only to the Athlete for some reason), adaptive cruise control, side airbags, TPMS, and more. I hope the driving dynamics and performance are best-in-class to make up for it; otherwise, it will be irrelevant with nothing new to offer in the segment.

  3. The Triton GLX is basically the Strada GLS, but loses the smart entry system/keyless operation system. The halogen headlights, fog lights, and rear combination lights are deal breaker, but overall it's still a nice truck. It is better than one of its direct competitor, the Hilux E since the Triton GLX has more powerful engine and larger wheels.

  4. Perfect car for road ragers.
