Honda Undergoes A Hard Reset With Its "0 Series" EV

With the discontinuation of the Honda e, Honda has unveiled its replacement—the Honda 0 Series. A new EV family set to launch starting 2026, it was previewed with two concepts the Saloon and Space-Hub. It will also use a new “H” mark to be used exclusively by the brand’s next-generation EV models.

The Honda “H” mark undergoes a transformation here. Its design has been remodeled to look like two outstretched hands representing the company’s commitment to augment the possibilities of mobility and sincerely serve the needs of the users of Honda EVs.

The name itself—Honda 0 Series—signifies how Honda treats this as a major transformation. Wanting to go back to its roots from zero, these will be defining Honda EVs with three goals: to advance its man maximum, machine minimum concept; to heighten its joy of driving ethos; and to bring the freedom of mobility to its users.

The development team has gone away with the thick and heavy design associated with EVs (due mainly to their batteries) and has instead gone the opposite with its Thin, Light, and Wise design. At the center is a new philosophy, The Art of Resonance, is meant to connect the environment, society, and the user.

With that, the Honda 0 Series platform will have a low vehicle height (for excellent aerodynamic performance) and the battery itself will be thinned out to create a low floor height. It will also be imbued with high levels of technology including Level 3 automated driving (full automated driving to follow) and the Internet of Things which will enable it to stay connected and be personalized.

In terms of performance, the Honda 0 Series models will have two e-axles with excellent power efficiency. The high-density battery packs will offer extremely fast charging (15 to 80 percent) in 10 to 15 minutes. And based on driving data from over 1 million units of Honda’s electrified vehicles (hybrids and BEVs), the company says the battery degradation will be less than 10 percent after 10 years.

As for the concepts themselves, the Saloon is the flagship concept model of the Honda 0 Series. It will have steer-by-wire and will use sustainable materials for both its interior and exterior. Meanwhile, the Space-Hub offers a flexible space that connects people to people and people to society.

The first production model in the Honda 0 Series will be launched globally by 2026. It will start from North America, then to Japan, Asia, Europe, Africa and the Middle East, and South America.
