Subaru Grows Sporty GT Edition Family With WRX GT Edition, WRX Wagon GT Edition

Subaru’s decision to inject a bit more zeal and flair in the Crosstrek with the launch of the GT Edition is just the start. Joining the compact crossover’s sporty transformation is the WRX and WRX Wagon which are getting their very own GT Edition treatments for the first time.

Previewed as pair of prototypes at the Singapore Motor Show, the Subaru WRX GT Edition and WRX Wagon GT Edition come with a body kit designed in partnership with renowned engineering firm, Giken Co. Ltd and former Subaru designer Masahiko “Jack” Kobayashi.

Kobayashi was part of the original team behind iconic Subaru production car designs for over 12 models, including the legendary WRX STI. His involvement in developing GT elements for select Asia-Pacific Subaru vehicles ensures their authenticity to the brand’s racing spirit.

The GT Edition, exclusive to Motor Image Group markets, include aggressive front, rear, and side under spoilers, revised 18-inch alloy wheels and a new spoiler that boosts aesthetics and aerodynamics. It also receives an STI grille.

No details were given regarding the WRX and WRX Wagon GT Edition’s performance enhancements, but Motor Image did allude to them. In their official info, they mentioned that the new and functional aero kit is meant to “hint at the performance-tuned chassis refinements within.”

Both the WRX GT Edition and WRX Wagon GT Edition will join the Subaru range later in 2024.
