MG Motor Posts Strong First Half 2025 Sales Performance

SAIC Motor, the parent company of MG, has announced strong sales performance both here and abroad for the first half of 2025.

MG Philippines recorded 4,632 units sold from January to June 2025—a strong year-on-year sales growth of 17.9 percent. This first half 2025 figure is significantly outpacing the local automotive industry’s overall growth rate of 2.3 percent.

As a result of this upward trend, MG’s market share in the Philippines has increased from 1.7 to 2 percent, reflecting growing consumer confidence in the brand and its expanding presence in the local automotive landscape.

MG attributes their growth to greater access to future-ready products, particularly in the field of New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) such as the MG3 Hybrid+ and the recently-launched MG ZS Hybrid+.

Meanwhile, globally, SAIC Motor has reported total vehicle sales of 2.053 million units from January to June—marking a 12.4 percent increase compared to the same period last year.

In June alone, SAIC Motor sold 365,000 vehicles globally, a 21.6 percent year-on-year increase, continuing a six-month streak of consistent monthly sales growth. End-user retail deliveries also reached 2.207 million units, reinforcing a positive upward trend in both production and demand.

SAIC Motor’s focus on innovation and reform is yielding measurable results, with its “new three-driving-force” strategy: self-owned brands, new energy vehicles (NEVs), and overseas operations fueling much of this growth.

Sales of SAIC’s self-owned brands surged to 1.304 million units in the first half, representing a 21.1 percent increase year-on-year, and now account for 63.5 percent of total volume, up 4.6 percentage points from last year. The NEV segment also recorded exceptional growth, with 646,000 units sold, up 40.2 percent. In June alone, NEV sales reached 121,000 units, a 29.2 percent increase year-on-year.

IM Motors, SAIC’s premium EV brand, delivered over 6,000 units in June, driven by demand for its flagship models—the LS6 and new L6. Meanwhile, SAIC’s passenger car division sold 16,000 NEVs, up 44.1 percent, with Maxus and SAIC-GM-Wuling also posting strong gains.
