By Putting People First, ACMobility Has Accelerated Its Business To Corner 8 Percent Of The Philippine Car Market


ACMobility’s investment in people has helped accelerate its business. Since the rebrand, ACMobility has grown its headcount rose from 1,370 in 2023 to over 1,600 by mid-2025, with a target of surpassing 1,700 by year-end, driven largely by the expansion of the BYD brand and the Mobility Infrastructure Group.

The company, which is headed by Ayala Corporation scion Jaime Alfonso Zobel de Ayala also saw its business results accelerate. Its market share climbed from 4.9 percent by end 2024 to 8 percent by the second half of 2025, it said in a statement.

If sales of CAMPI-TMA members account for 92 percent of all new cars sold—a percentage given by CAMPI itself—new car sales would have been 250,991 (230,912 units officially recorded by CAMPI) as of June 2025.

Since Kia and Volkswagen are members of CAMPI and have reported its 1H 2025 sales to be 4,226 units combined (4,195 for Kia and 71 for Volkswagen), they would have accounted for 1.68 percent of the industry. That would mean that the remaining 6.32 percent is likely BYD. Getting 6.32 percent of 250,991 units equates to 15,863 units. This is a big jump from the full year 2024 figure of 4,780 units. This is the closest anyone would get right now of BYD Philippines’ actual sales figures baring ACMobility making them public.

If this arithmetic proves to be correct, BYD’s performance puts them in the third spot, sales-wise. Even if their Honda and Isuzu owned dealerships sold a thousand units apiece, at 13,863 units, it would still beat legacy brands the likes of Nissan (11,859 units), Ford (10,953 units), and Suzuki (10,732 units). If the ACMobility owned dealerships account for 20 percent of all Honda and Isuzu models sold, it would still make BYD rank in the Top 7.

Impressive sales aside, ACMobility was also recognized with several awards for being a people-first company.

At the HR Excellence Awards last August, ACMobility was honored with the Excellence in Business Transformation award, while its CEO, Jaime Alfonso Zobel de Ayala, was named Most People-Focused CEO, a testament to the company’s human-centered approach to transformation.

Meanwhile, on the global stage, ACMobility was awarded Bronze for Best Transformation Strategy at the Stevie Awards for Great Employers in New York this September, joining leading organizations from around the world.

Earlier this year, the Employees’ Compensation Commission commended ACMobility in March for its Return-to-Work Assistance Program supporting Persons with Work-Related Disabilities (PWRDs), underscoring the company’s commitment to inclusivity and care.

  1. But AC mobility also fully owned some honda dealerships and maybe also fully owned some isuzu dealerships. Most likely units sold from those dealerships was included by AC mobilty on its total units sold/total market share. Napakagulo, bat di nalang kasi ebulatlat ng AC ilan ba talaga units sold ng BYD?

    1. Yes, it's possible...but even so, it won't be sizeable enough. So likely, BYD would have sold around...maybe 11,000 units or so?

      As for BYD's sales, it's BYD China who doesn't want the numbers published.

    2. They have 11 honda, 5 kia, 1 vw and 13 isuzu dealerships. I think it is sizeable enough.

    3. Let's say AC accounts for 20 percent of Honda and Isuzu's total sales...that would be roughly 3,200 units.

      At 9,463 units, BYD sales would still be impressive. That would mean #6, overtaking both Isuzu and Honda.

  6. Ayala really mismanaged the Volkswagen brand, preferring to bring in Dieselgate units (which admittedly were a bargain) and China-only VW models which no one cared for. Although maybe this is because of stubbornness from VW Germany? Still, with BYD, they have plenty of product to sell (in fact, it's overflowing lol), though I wonder if the families driving them are the kind who change their cars every 3 years -- in which case, OK lang if your infotainment -- much less your entire car-- becomes obsolete in that time. Let this also be a lesson to the Indian makers who attempted entry in our market (Tata, Mahindra) -- they only offered legacy models which were already outdated even in India. Whereas the Chinese makers pushed onto us all the bells and whistles kahit hindi bagay sa market natin (like white leather seats, enjoy cleaning those!). The Japanese brands still take time to test in harsh local conditions and tune (as well as upgrade the aircon).
