BYD Cars PH Reveals Its 2024 Sales And It's Enough To Worry The Competition

It’s no longer a mystery. BYD Cars Philippines has finally revealed its 2024 full-year sales figures: 4,780 units. The figure falls short of being placed in CAMPI-TMA’s Top 10 best-selling vehicle brands, but it’s enough for them to overtake Foton for 11th place. They are also now officially the second best-selling Chinese brand in the country just behind MG.

Even more impressive, the Chinese brand, now officially distributed by ACMobility, achieved an unprecedented 8,900 percent growth last year. In addition, they now command an 82 percent share of the Philippine New Energy Vehicle (HEV, PHEV, and BEV) sales.

Of its impressive number, 2,078 comprised the BYD Seagull, Dolphin, Atto 3, T3, Seal, Han, and Tang. With a 69 percent market share in the BEV segment, BYD leads the country in battery-electric vehicles sold in 2024.

The Atto 3 alone sold 1,062 units making it the country’s best-selling BEV with a 35 percent market share, while the Seagull sold 411 units enough for a 14 percent of overall BEV sales.

Meanwhile, Sealion 6 DM-i sold 2,669 units in 2024, making it the brand’s top-selling model. From July, when BYD Cars Philippines introduced it to the market, to December, it was also the best-selling model in the combined NEV and hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) segments, with a 19 percent market share. Even more remarkable, it now commands a 14.6 percent share in the overall compact SUV segment for the entire 2024 calendar year, and 25.9 percent in the same segment from July to December (read our review of the Sealion 6 DM-i).

“We are beyond thrilled to share our performance in 2024, marking a pivotal year for BYD in the Philippines,” said Bob Palanca, Managing Director of BYD Cars Philippines. “This achievement reflects the dedication of our team, the unwavering support of our dealer partners and suppliers, and most importantly, the trust of our valued customers. Together, we will continue driving the Philippines toward a smarter and greener future with innovative and accessible solutions.”

“Together with ACMobility, we are committed to providing more Filipinos with BYD’s global models that represent greener and smarter mobility solutions as we continue to build on this success in 2025 and beyond. We are focused on sustaining this momentum by delivering innovative and affordable models for our Filipino customers,” said Aiffy Liu, Country Head of BYD Philippines.

Another key factor in BYD’s astonishing growth in the Philippines last year has been its rapid and extensive dealership expansion.

At the start of 2024, BYD had only two dealerships. Last year, it closed with 25 operational dealerships in various locations nationwide. Working tirelessly to introduce quality customer service to all corners of the country, BYD Cars Philippines has already green-lit 52 dealer locations to bring BYD electric vehicles and services to more areas in 2025.

“The growing network of BYD dealerships and service centers and ACMobility’s expanding footprint of EV charging stations across the country are part of the dynamic ecosystem ACMobility envisions in supporting and encouraging the country’s transition towards electric mobility,” adds Palanca.

  3. Now its ripe for BYD to take over AC Mobility. Just a quick seach on linkedin and jobstreet will give you hirings directly from china to oversee BYD philippines. No more helping our enemies, Ayala. Its time to pivot to our true allies.

    1. BYD main office isn't interested of taking over the whole distribution business of BYD vehicles in the Philippine market
They prefer having a business partner like the Ayala Group
They don't want to end up like SAIC Motor Philippines / MG that is currently struggling due to poor pricing of their new vehicles

  4. If you want a bouncy ride, get the Sealion 6.

The Seal though genuinely drives like a European car. I hope they release a hybrid version

    1. You’ll have to settle for the rebranded BYD Destroyer, which is being marketed locally as the BYD Seal 5. What a way to cheapen and tarnish a globally beloved nameplate.

  6. Hope BYD Ph will offer soon an AWD version of the Sealion 6 (to battle it out against the BAIC B30 AWD).

    2. Sealion 6 PHEV eaten lots of sales from the DNGA Yaris Cross and Corolla Cross that's why Toyota dealers are struggling to sell those vehicles as the BYD Sealion 6 PHEV is the one that buyers want

  8. The Sealion 6 was only introduced towards the end of July. So the 2,669 sales in 2024 is achieved in a 5 month period or an average of 530 units sales a month. Remarkable!

    1. Does the Sealion 6 still have a waitlist? I’m seeing a lot of “unit on-hand” ads for the SL6.

    2. Waitlist of dealers waiting for possible SL6 buyers. BYD and other china car makers has over production.

    3. BYD Philippines imported and restocked hundreds of units of the Sealion 6 PHEV
Easy to buy it at local BYD dealerships

    1. Seagull and Seal 5 sell for around US$12k in China. They definitely have wiggle room to undercut the competition.

    2. That's CDM prices, which is heavily subsidized by the CCP. You shouldn't use those prices as a basis of price comparison since export vehicles don't get the same benefits. If you really want to compare prices, look at BYD's other export markets. You'll see that our prices are on par with them.

    1. Pretty unfair assesmment since BYD's 1% is all nEV sales. That's impressive if you ask me.

  14. Growth of 8900% is amazing. But wait. If they sold 1 unit in 2023 at 8900% growth, this is about 8,900 units for 2024. The article did say 4780 units for 2024.

    1. So maybe byd sold 2 units here in 2023😅😅😅

    2. If you guys bothered with the math, they sold 537 units in 2023.

      Delete
    3. if they sold 50% more in 2024, 537 (2023) is 805+ units(in 2024), if 100%-1074u, if 1000%-1.074Mu, if 8900%-95.586M cars! So not likely this should exceed its global units sold.

    4. Wouldn't it be 53 - 54 units in 2023?

    5. Sorry, 53. I was typing this on my mobile phone.

    6. I stand corrected, my math was wrong. To correct my statement above...Growth of 8900% is amazing. But wait. If they sold 1 unit in 2023 at 8900% growth, this is about 89 units for 2024. The article did say 4780 units for 2024.
Doing the reverse calculations, they sold only 50+u in 2023.

  19. Ford territory PHEV with CATL battery is coming, very interesting battle for SL6. CATL battery miles better and safer than byd, CATL supplies 40% of worlds EV batteries. in terms of sales i would put my bet on territory PHEV, pinoys love ford.

    1. It's probably going to be priced at the 2M bracket. That's not really going to draw away sales from the SL6.

  21. I predict the Atto 2 will be a hit for BYD. It combines the best features of the Dolphin and Atto 3 in one compact, high-riding SUV.

    1. Atto 2 is currently not in the roadmap of BYD PH.
