Nissan, Subaru, Toyota Heavily Discounting "Specialty Cars" This Month

The pandemic-related “revenge spending” looks to be truly over as specialty cars from Japanese brands such as Nissan, Subaru, and Toyota are all seeing huge discounts this month.

From a lottery-based arrangement when it first launched that allowed customers the chance to buy a Nissan Z, Nissan Philippines now finds itself flushing out older (MY2024) Nissan Z Premium models with a P 450,000 cash discount.

Applicable at select Nissan dealers, particularly those with aging Nissan Z inventory, it drops the two-door sportscar’s price from P 3,888,000 to P 3,438,000.

Over at Subaru, the rally-bred WRX isn’t doing any better. As such, Motor Image Pilipinas is offering either a straight cash discount or a free STI kit to woo in would-be customers. The WRX sedan is discounted by P 100,000 across the line-up, while the WRX wagon gets a bigger P 200,000 discount.

This means that the WRX sedan now starts at P 2,688,000 (from P 2,788,000) for the manual, topping out at P 3,068,000 (from P 3,168,000 for the WRX tS EyeSight). Meanwhile, the WRX wagon is now priced at P 2,688,000 (from P 2,888,000) to P 2,838,000 (from P 3,038,000) for the WRX tS Wagon EyeSight.

Even Toyota’s once hot-selling hot hatch, the GR Yaris, isn’t immune from discounts. Last month, Toyota offered the GR Yaris MT (MY2024) with a P 160,000 cash discount or zero percent interest at 30 percent down payment and 12 months to pay during the Toyota GR Philippine Cup final race weekend.

Those rates are now even higher to move older stock. While supplies last, cash savings are now up to P 200,000, while there’s an option for a Pay Low option for P 523,500 or a Pay Light (low monthly) option at P 35,500. These offers are only applicable to the 2025 AT transmission version.

Remarkably, the only car that’s immune from the discounting trend is Mazda and its MX-5. The best-selling two-seater sportscar in the world is on track to have one of its best years in 2025. It continues to be offered in the MX-5 soft top and MX-5 RF versions, albeit with lesser variants on offer than before.

    1. Specialty/sports cars are all low slung. Regardless of flooding risk, you won't even see these cars anywhere except for well-paved and level roads 😄

  5. The Miata may be the best selling, but for most enthusiast it would be the last pick among the 4 cars mentioned.
