It’s confirmed: Kia Philippines is adding a third battery electric vehicle (BEV) to the local line-up in the form of the EV5. It’s slated for a market release in the first quarter of 2026.
Slotting below the EV6 and EV9 in Kia’s line-up, the EV5 is poised to become the brand’s most affordable EV offering. This is, of course, in line with the brand’s positioning to use the EV5 as a way to democratize BEV ownership.
While the EV5 still has the brand’s Opposites United design philosophy on full display, it has been decidedly paired back compared to the EV6 and EV9.
Powering it is a single electric motor driving the front wheels. The 217 horsepower, 350 Nm of torque motor is connected to a 88.1-kWh battery which offers more than 500 kilometers of range. Its once-a-year preventive maintenance schedule makes ownership convenient and affordable.
Kia Philippines has promised to equip the EV5 with state-of-the-art features including V2L capability and DriveWise ADAS.
“Electrification is reshaping the way we move, bringing new possibilities to how we drive and live,” said Jay Lopez, Managing Director of Kia Philippines. “For Kia, this year marks the next phase of our evolution, a renewed commitment to innovation that moves people forward through both advanced electric vehicles and ever-efficient fuel-powered models.”
With Kia promising a more attainable price tag with the EV5, their most likely bet is to challenge the Model Y. The Model Y, in the Philippines, starts with a P 2,369,000. If Kia Philippines is able to price it around those parts, they could very well stand a good chance of capturing market share.

Kia should be really bringing the Syros and/or Carens Clavis/Clavis EV models first.
ReplyDeleteKia Philippines isn't interested of selling made in India Kia vehicles due to pricing issues and expensive freight costs and taxes of those Indian Kia vehicles
DeleteThey should consider building those models in Vietnam then, just like the Sonet and Carens are. Could see the logic of not bringing in the Syros as it could cannibalize Sonet sales but it's high time that Kia PH has something to field in the affordable MPV space. I think that the Carens/Carens Clavis and even the Clavis EV are better bets than the EV5.
DeleteKia Sonet in the Philippine market is made in China
DeleteKia Philippines isn't interested of selling the Vietnamese nor Indian made Carens due to pricing issues (more expensive than the Veloz,Stargazer and Xpander Cross).
AC Mobility/Kia Philippines already said before that they're not interested of bringing in made in Vietnam,India,Mexico and America Kia vehicles to the Philippine market
Cheaper EV6 alternative coming and that's a good news!
ReplyDeleteMost likely priced at 2.4 Million or 2.5 Million Pesos which is good

ReplyDeleteUnlikely to happen as it'll be priced at 2.4 Million up to 2.5 Million Pesos
DeleteBut tesla for filipinos are the apple of cars.. you know like owning even just an iphone x in 2025 is a brag for them claiming they belong to "fine people.."
ReplyDeleteHaters gonna hate...
DeleteDumb comparison. Tesla has continuous useful software upgrades which increase the value of the vehicle even more. It ain't Apple.
DeleteApple tesla vs huawie byd
DeleteMan, I bet these comments are gonna infuriate boomers who don't like cars being compared to appliances. lol
DeleteEV6 nila is priced competitively against Model Y in other markets.
ReplyDeleteMataas lang mag presyo ang AC group. Iyan din naman style nila sa VW noon.
