Some Things You Need To Know About The One RFID System

After years of planning, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) has finally made cashless RFID interoperability a reality for the nation’s major expressways in Luzon.

Currently, motorists needed to have an Easytrip RFID to pass through the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX), C5 Link, and the Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX). Motorists also needed an Autosweep RFID to pass through the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX), the Skyway, STAR Tollway, NAIA Expressway (NAIAX), Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX), and Muntinlupa-Cavite Expressway (MCX).

However, with the One RFID system, motorists can now use Luzon expressways by maintaining balance in just one RFID account.

To register for the One RFID, motorists must visit the website of their chosen RFID service provider (click here for Easytrip and click here for Autosweep). They can then remove the unchosen RFID sticker at the authorized customer service centers.

After completing the process, motorists can then buy load for their chosen RFID account.

The DOTr maintains that enrollment to the single RFID system is not mandatory. Motorists can still keep two separate accounts if they wish.

Check out the Frequently Asked Questions below.

Q: What is the One RFID, All Tollways program?

A: The One RFID, All Tollways program allows you to subscribe to one RFID provider (Easytrip RFID or Autosweep RFID) and use your RFID balance to pay for toll in all Luzon expressways.

Q: Which expressways are covered?

A: SMC Tollways (Autosweep RFID) – Skyway SLEX, STAR, TPLEX, NAIAx, MCX; MPTC Tollways (Easytrip RFID) – NLEX, NLEX Connector, SCTEX, CALAX, CAVITEX, C5 Southlink.

Q: Is it required to select a single RFID provider?

A: No, it’s not mandatory. Enrollment to the program is optional and motorists can still keep two separate accounts.

Q: Who is eligible to enroll?

A: New subscribers and existing subscribers whose accounts are in good standing and with no negative balance.

Q: How do I enroll and what are the requirements?

A: To get the detailed instructions based on your account status (new subscriber or existing subscriber with both RFIDs or single RFID), visit the website of your preferred RFID Service Provider. Click here for Easytrip and click here for Autosweep. Requirements include Sales Invoice (for new cars) or Certificate of Registration and Official Receipt, or Deed of Sale (for pre-owned cars), and valid drivers license.

Q: How long does the process take?

A: Your enrollment will be fully activated in as little as 30 minutes. Be sure to provide a valid email address so a confirmation email can be sent.

Q: Is there an additional fee for enrollment?

A: There is none. Enrollment to One RFID for all tollways is free of charge.

Q: What happens to my remaining balance once I enroll to the One RFID system?

A: Your remaining balance will be transferred to your One RFID account (whether Autosweep or Easytrip). It should be transferred within 3 working days. A separate request for refund may be required.

Q: I previously registered my Autosweep sticker with Easytrip. Do I need to enroll separately for this program?

A: Yes. With your current set-up, you’re still reloading both your Easytrip and Autosweep RFID. With the One RFID, All Tollways program, you just need to keep and reload one RFID account and use your load balance for all Luzon toll roads.

Q: Can I cancel my subscription to the One RFID, All Tollways program anytime?

A: No, subscription to the program requires a 24-month lock in period.

  1. Article doesn’t address a key question. Can we transfer credits from the account we will no longer be using to the other account?

  2. Just to add, you can't participate in One RFID if your account has multiple plate numbers (personal/corporate fleet accounts). Apparently, support for these accounts will come sometime next year.

    1. That is correct. Corporate accounts cannot use the One RFID system yet.

  4. Good day how can I verify my rfid which is autosweep if it is already interoperability? Im already enrolled

    1. Interoperability is different from the One RFID system. Interoperability means you have one RFID, but will still need to maintain 2 balances--one for Easytrip and one for Autosweep. Under the One RFID system, your account will be merged into one.

  5. Sorry for the weak mind, so if I have 2 rfids, 1 for each. Then 1 choose 1 as my preferred, will the load of the one that I did not choose be transferred to the preferred?

    1. Yes, it will. If, for some reason, the balance cannot be transferred, you will be issued a refund.

  7. where can we do this. are all the existing Autosweep and Easy trip installation locations capable of switching to the one RFID. do i need to show proof of my balance remaining?

    1. So far, customer service centers for both. It may vary, so best to contact your RFID provider on which locations they'll allow.

  8. If you do it online, after submission of the requirement you will receive a message confirming your registration but apparently you still need to go to their physical stalls to validate your registration. So what’s the use of online registration?

    1. Yep, if you're a first-time RFID accountholder or someone who maintains separate RFID accounts with separate load balances for each car owned. Nope, if you want to maintain a pooled RFID balance for all your vehicles for seamless use.

  10. I already have Interoperability for my RFIDs for my two cars. My Autosweep account is for two RFID cars as well as my Easytrip account. My question, is the ONE RFID one account applicable to multiple RFID cars?

    1. As stated in the above comments, you can't enroll in One RFID if you have more than one car linked to any of your RFID accounts, at least for now. If you want, you can try unlinking one of your cars from your current Autosweep and Easytrip accounts, then apply for a new Autosweep or Easytrip account with One RFID for said car.
