4 Schools Benefit in Chevron's "Brigada Eskwela"

Termite-infested walls, leaky ceilings, rusted roofs, faulty electrical outlets and dilapidated bathrooms. These were some of the conditions that 132 volunteers consisting of employees and contractors from Chevron Philippines Inc. (CPI), marketer of the Caltex fuel and lubricants, and Chevron Holdings Inc. (CHI), a pioneer multi-functional shared services center, tackled on a simultaneous Brigada Eskwela effort in Laurel and Bayanan Elementary School in Batangas, San Agustin Elementary School in La Union and Tandayag Elementary School in Negros Oriental.

Chevron donated over P1 million in materials and skilled labor for the four schools. The volunteers logged a total of 761 man-hours toiling alongside 161 students, parents, teachers and barangay officers. As a result, 1,851 students and 62 teachers will utilize safe, clean, refurbished and repainted classroom for this school year.

“Chevron brings to life the ‘bayanihan’ spirit. The support that we have received from Chevron will ensure that our facilities are in sturdy and safe condition,” said Christopher Dalisay, principal of Laurel Elementary School.
