Thailand Motor Expo 2014: Hyundai HND-9 Concept is the Future Genesis Coupe

First showcased at the 2013 Seoul Motor Show, Hyundai is showing off its future design direction with the HND-9 Concept, a luxury sports coupe that’s being shown in ASEAN for the very first time at the 31st Thailand Motor Expo 2014. A further evolution of the company’s “Fluidic Sculpture” design philosophy, the HND-9 is Hyundai’s modern interpretation of the classic premium sports coupe. It was developed at the company’s R&D Center in Namyang, Korea.

With an overall length of 4,695 mm and a width of 1,890 mm, the HND-9 Concept is visually dramatic with its long hood and wheelbase (2,860 mm). It features a hexagonal-shape grille, butterfly doors, sculptural rear combination lamps, and 22-inch alloy wheels (with integrated carbon materials) for a striking, powerful look.

Underneath, it’s powered by a 3.3-liter gasoline direct injection (GDI) with a maximum output of 370 horsepower thanks to a turbocharger. This engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic. Heart-stopping Brembo brakes can also been seen peering out of the aggressive alloy wheels for that added performance touch.
