Suzuki Philippines Increases Prices of Vitara, APV and Super Carry Variants Due to TRAIN

If you’re in the market for a Suzuki vehicle this February, then you’re still in luck. After managing to hold onto their 2017 pricing last January, Suzuki Philippines has largely managed to do the same this month thanks to existing inventory.

Drilling down their model list, only the Jimny, Vitara, and certain variants of the Super Carry and APV see price changes due to the new vehicle excise tax.

Due to TRAIN, the Jimny sub-compact SUV is up P 20,000 or 2.4 percent. Their new SRPs are currently P 860,000 for the manual transmission and P 915,000 for the automatic. It’s the same case with the Super Carry which also sees a modest 2.6 percent price increase to P 580,000 from P 565,000. Meanwhile, the top-of-the-line APV, the 1.6 GLX has gone up P 30,000 to P 808,000 or a 3.86 percent increase in price compared to December 2017.

Finally, it seems Suzuki has emptied out last year’s stock of their well-received Vitara sub-compact crossover. Already in short supply last year, the Vitara has become the first local Suzuki model to be hit across the variant range with a price increase brought about by TRAIN. The mid-grade 1.6 GL+ is up 5.33 percent to P 988,000 while the top-of-the-line 1.6 GLX is up 4.77 percent to P 1,098,000. Mitigating the P 50,000 increase to the Vitara’s prices, Suzuki Philippines has finally priced the entry-level 1.6 GL model. This new variant enters in at P 913,000.

Compared to our December predictions, we were off just P 1,000 on the Vitara 1.6 GLX. This equates to a difference of just 0.10 percent.

Because so few Suzuki models have moved prices, we’re forgoing the usual table for now and going instead with just a simple list. We’ll have the full table of models once Suzuki implements its new pricing across the whole model range.
  • Suzuki Jimny 1.3 M/T – P 860,000 (+ P 20,000 or 2.38 percent)
  • Suzuki Jimny 1.3 A/T – P 915,000 (+ P 20,000 or 2.23 percent)
  • Suzuki APV 1.6 GLX M/T – P 808,000 (+ P 30,000 or 3.86 percent)
  • Suzuki Vitara 1.6 GL A/T – P 913,000 (NEW for 2018)
  • Suzuki Vitara 1.6 GL+ A/T – P 988,000 (+ P 50,000 or 5.33 percent)
  • Suzuki Vitara 1.6 GLX A/T – P 1,098,000 (+ 50,000 or 4.77 percent)
  • Suzuki Super Carry Utility – P 580,000 (+ P 15,000 or 2.65 percent)

  1. I was seriously considering the Glx. The whole package looks hip, stylish and exudes value for money. But the sunroof made the ceiling too low. At the back seats only 3 fingers separates my skull from the ceiling. And I'm only 5'7. I know if I run through some rough road I could hit it already. That would even be more of a problem if you have taller passengers. That was the deal breaker for me so went instead for the Montero.
Suzuki should do something on that problem. I would suggest to just take away the sunroof for the glx or come up with another variant with all the specs without the sunroof. It's not of much use in this hot, polluted country anyway.
