Team CleanFuel/Motul-AutoPlus Dominates Third Round of Formula V1 Championships

Luis Gono of Team CleanFuel/Motul-Autoplus dominated the third round of the Formula V1 Championships held at the Clark International Speedway last weekend.

Gono displayed his mastery of the track by qualifying on pole, besting the next fastest time by around 1.3 seconds. And despite pouring rain during the afternoon race, Gono fended off the challenges of his closest rival, Tyson Sy of Team Parts Pro Racing. At one point, Gono opened up an 8-second gap.

“It was slippery and I had to calculate my move especially during fast corners because I did not want to spin out or slow down. I kept telling myself I have to be consistent and always focus without being distracted by the elements around me,” said Gono.

Gono dominated the Formula V1 Pro Class with an official time of 2:22.68 while his teammate Dominic Roque, who is competing in the Amateur Class clocked in a fastest time of 2:25.6.
“It was a team effort and I would like to share this win with them also for setting up the car perfectly for the wet race,” added Gono.

Gono is the first Toyota Vios Cup Champion and races competitively in other motorsport disciplines such as D-1 drifting.
