Next Toyota, Subaru Co-Developed Car Could Be This SUV

The next Toyota underpinned by a jointly-developed platform with Subaru is upon the world. The new vehicle, underpinned by the new e-TNGA platform will be revealed as a design study first as the X Prologue coming this March 17.

Nothing has been revealed about the new design concept other than Toyota saying it’s a small vehicle underpinned by the e-TNGA platform. The “X” in the name though suggests it’s an SUV, likely slotting below the RAV4 in terms of size. Coincidentally, Toyota and Subaru both confirmed that their first jointly-developed EV will be a compact SUV, similar in size to the RAV4 or Forester.

The e-TNGA platform is a new platform designed for all-electric vehicles, and is co-developed with Subaru. The all-new platform is to be flexible not just in length, width, and wheelbase, but it can also adopt front, rear, or four-wheel drive electric motor systems with batteries of varying sizes too. This means it can be used for a wide range of product types.

As for the name, it’s understood that Toyota has filed trademarks for the “BZ” badge. Meaning “Beyond Zero,” it will carry a numeral naming format ranging from BZ1 to BZ5.
