Geely Philippines President Vows To Foster Dialogue, Collaboration

Newly-appointed Sojitz G Auto Philippines (Geely Philippines) President and CEO, Naoyuki Takeda outlined his vision for the company’s growth after being battered with aftersales service issues and plateauing sales in 2023.

“Our commitment goes beyond words; it’s evident in the actions we’re taking, the changes we’re making, and the improvements we’re implementing…We are building something significant, and it’s an invitation for each of you to join us in reshaping the automotive landscape,” Takeda said.

Takeda outlined tangible achievements of Geely Philippines in 2023. Most notably, he cited the significant improvement in their capacity to supply parts resulting in service fill rates exceeding 90 percent. Furthermore, he pledges to continue striving for a 5-star customer experience. This will be his top priority.

After his predecessor shunned the motoring press in general, Takeda wants to take a more collaborative approach, emphasizing the value of partnerships. “Your insights are invaluable, and your feedback is crucial. Let’s have an open conversation, share ideas, and collectively build something extraordinary,” Takeda stated.

Takeda capped off the evening with a preview of their first-ever battery electric vehicle, the Geely Geometry C.

Produced under Geely’s all-electric Geometry brand, the Geometry C is based off the Emgrand GS (no relation to the current Emgrand sedan).

Launched in 2019 in China, the model previewed packs a 70-kWh battery pack produced by CATL (range of up to 485 kilometers). To maximize its energy recuperation, it features a unique brake-by-wire system.

Meanwhile, the electric motor, produced by Nidec, makes a maximum of 200 horsepower and 310 Nm of torque. It offers a 0 to 100 km/h time of just 7 seconds and a top speed of 150 km/h.

The unit previewed by Geely Philippines includes features such as a heads-up display, a 12.3-inch touchscreen, an advanced AQS filtration system, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, and blind spot detection.

The preview of the Geely Geometry C serves as a herald of Geely Philippines’ continued evolution and its commitment to action—from promises to actual achievements.

Are you willing to give Geely a second chance?

  1. The old president of Geely Philippines was lazy and doesn't really care that much about the business of selling cars that's why its marketing and everything are bad
Glad that Sojitz hired and placed the people who used to work at MMPC to solve the problems of Geely..The new president of Geely Philippines used to work at Mitsubishi Motors Philippines when Sojitz used to have controlling shares to the group.
Looking forward to the Geometry C,New Coolray,New Okavango and Geometry E in the Philippine market this year.

  2. Yes! Why not. Especially the Okavango (as 2nd/3rd car) for a discounted price of Php1.3M you get a lot of car. Super quiet and comfortable ride too.

But let the 2024 sales figure speak for itself (need to at least surpass the 2022 sales)

    2. So this guy hates Ford but would rather go with Geely, a Chinese brand surrounded with controversy regarding parts availability and aftersales service.

    3. Ford actually has the worst and predatory after sales service

    4. Yeah right. If that's the case, Ford should have already closed by now.

    5. Reliability and after sales services of Ford are still awful
Ford is only great at marketing and promotion but won't improve its after sales services and reliability.

  4. It is really funny that Global Roll-out of Geely models are VERY SLOW... they are still rolling out OLD MODELS launched between 2017 to 2019 in China.

Kudos to GAC & Chery for rolling out 2021 & 2022 China model year vehicles in the Philippines for 2023 & 2024. These are better vehicles than those sold by Geely.

    1. Chery is still selling old versions of the Tiggo 7 Pro and Tiggo 8 Pro to cut costs a lot despite the improved Plus versions of those vehicles are available now for export markets like Malaysia,Indonesia and Australia 😂
Took three years for Chery to bring in the Tiggo 5x Pro in the Philippine market 😂 Chery EQ1 is already 7 years old and still not available officially in the Philippine market 😂
It took 3 years for GAC to bring in the M6 Pro MPV to the Philippine market 😂

  5. Lakas ng tama sa Geely 26% decline in total sales comparing 2023 to year 2022 despite of the new affordable models they offered (yung increase sa pricing ng okavango and coolray pang swapang na move). Geely is a very good chinese auto brand, hopefully maka baw second time around...and with the new president.

  6. The case of geely shows that consumers value aftersales very much. That is why the japs still reign. The chinese brands should invest in warehouses of parts, service centers, trade schools. So far it is all new dealerships. Very shallow it is all about sales. Not thinking about the long term

    1. Good observation. The other commenters are funny, blindly praising geely.

    2. Trade schools?😂
Puro kinuha lang yan sa TESDA 😂
Japanese car brands also got issues when it comes to spare parts especially the ones with hybrid engines 😂
