Known as the 2027 Rogue in the United States (likely a MY2028 for global markets), the all-new X-Trail gets the e-Power parallel hybrid system. With that, electric motors—one at the front and one at the rear—power the wheels directly, while a turbocharged 1.5-liter 3-cylinder acts as a generator to either feed energy to the motors or charge the 1.67 kWh lithium-ion battery. Combined output is rated at 225 horsepower. No combined torque figure was given, but the front motor makes 329 Nm, while the rear makes 195 Nm. And like the current Philippine-spec X-Trail, it ditches the CVT for a single-speed automatic.

Recognizing the unique requirements of long American freeways, Nissan has tweaked the X-Trail’s e-Power system for better highway performance and efficiency. This has resulted in a highway mileage of 15.3 km/L (17 km/L in the city).

The all-new X-Trail also comes with e-Pedal—a one-pedal regenerative braking feature and Smooth Stop which automatically modulates brake pressure at the end of a stop, reducing head-toss and creating a more controlled, refined stopping experience.

Outside, the 2027 X-Trail gets a more striking design. At the front, there’s a geometric front fascia with a hexagonal honeycomb grille and integrated LED headlights. At the back are full-width LED taillights that bisect the tailgate. It rides on wheels up to 19 inches in diameter with 235/55R19 tires.

Inside, the design goes for something streamlined with class-leading front head- and legroom. It gets a fully digital gauge cluster measuring up to 14.3 inches, supplemented by another screen (also up to 14.3 inches) with touchscreen functionality and Google Gemini built-in. Nissan takes a potshot against its competition by emphasizing that it keeps physical climate control buttons for the X-Trail. Features include Nissan’s famed Zero Gravity seats with heating and ventilation, a 10-speaker Bose sound system, 64-color ambient lighting, and a class-exclusive magnetic Qi2 wireless charger.

When it comes to safety, Nissan has also made updates to its ProPilot system which adds a new front radar sensor and new wider view front camera. Along with updated software, it means the X-Trail now centers itself and handles curves at higher speed much better. Other new driver-assist features include the ability to change lanes automatically. Hands-off Traffic Jam Support allows drivers to temporarily take their hands off the steering wheel in low-speed traffic when the system is active.

The 2027 X-Trail will be assembled at Nissan’s Kyushu factory in Japan with retail sales starting in early 2027 in the United States.
