Toyota Philippines Just Hiked Up the Prices of Their Cars Effective This Month

If you were in the fence last December on whether you should get a brand-new Toyota, well you’re out of luck. Toyota Motor Philippines just announced a price hike on a majority of its models to greet 2019. And as the number one automaker in the country, expect other carmakers to follow suit in the following months.

Now, before you think that this is due to some change once again in the vehicle excise tax, we’ll stop you there. There’s nothing in the Department of Finance’s radar (for now). In the case, the price increase is likely part of regular business practice brought on by foreign exchange rates, higher overhead, margin protection, and so forth.

On the average, the price increase isn’t substantial—less than one percent in some cases. However, it’s still enough for a full tank or two of gasoline at the very least. Interestingly, not all models were affected by this price hike. Vehicles such as the recently launched Camry and Vios are not affected. Surprisingly, the Avanza, Corolla Altis, Hiace, and RAV4 weren’t hiked, indicating perhaps that their imminent replacements are on the way.

You can check out the full Car Price Guide here, or you can scroll down to see how much more you have to pay for your favorite Toyota vehicle. Amount in parenthesis indicates the amount the price increase it had effective this month. Models not mentioned below means their prices are unchanged.
