This is Aston Martin's First-Ever SUV: Meet the DBX

Aston Martin enters the ultra-luxury SUV segment with the DBX. As the first SUV in the British brand’s 106-year history, the DBX is the product of an extensive development program that started in 2015. With that, it’s expected to bring both the versatility and indulgence expected of a luxury SUV with Aston Martin levels of performance.

Riding on a new dedicated SUV platform, the DBX uses bonded aluminum to create a light yet stiff body. It features adaptive air suspension and electronic adaptive dampers to maximize ride comfort, while still maintaining a high level of responsiveness and dynamic ability.

Under the hood is a new version of the DB11’s 4.0-liter twin turbocharged V8 engine. In this application, it makes 550 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque. Aston Martin paid attention to the exhaust system to give it a refined yet exhilarating character. 0-100 km/h arrives in just 4.5 seconds and the top speed is at an impressive 291 km/h.

Transmitting this power and torque to the ground is a 9-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox, allied to an all-wheel drive system with active differentials featuring an active central differential and an electronic rear limited slip differential (eDiff).

Aston Martin’s first ever full-size 5-seat model is not only exceptionally versatile in terms of the terrain that it can tackle, it is also extremely adaptable to a wide variety of lifestyle needs and owners. Designed to accommodate the world’s 99th percentile male and 5th percentile female, DBX has been very deliberately created with instant familiarity and ease of use from the start. It also has a 632-liter cargo space and a 40/20/40 split-folding rear seat.

Complimenting the incredibly high standard specification of DBX, which includes all available active safety systems, there are many optional accessory packages offered. These packages will tailor the car even further to customers’ needs, sports or pastimes. For example, the Pet package will include, amongst other things, a portable washer to help attend to the needs of a muddy dog after a walk. Alternatively, the Snow package will deliver boot warmers to make a ski trip just that little bit more pleasurable.

The seats are trimmed in sumptuous, full grain leather, sourced from long term partner Bridge of Weir. An industry first, both the headlining and electric roof blind are available in a luxurious Alcantara finish, providing a harmonious design, light obscuration and solar attenuation without compromising headroom. Throughout the cabin, DBX maintains an authenticity of materials, with judicious use of metal, glass and wood throughout the cabin.

Framed by opulent wood, leather, carbon fiber (or whatever the customer may wish), is a 10.25-inch TFT screen that sits flush in the center console, while a 12.3-inch TFT screen provides all the information to the driver. Apple CarPlay comes as standard, as does a 360-degree camera system and ambient lighting that offers 64 different colors in two zones.

The Aston Martin goes on sale in several markets by the second quarter of 2020. The price of admission is around USD 189,900 (~P 9.671 million), while would easily translate to around P 12 to P 15 million locally.
