Honda Wants To Build A Flying Car And Reusable Rockets

Honda wants to expand their offering to include flying cars and reusable rockets. All this is part of their 2030 vision to expand their mobility offering beyond cars, motorcycles, and conventional airplanes.

The Honda electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) will utilize technologies the company has amassed to date. It will have the capability of taking off and landing in the middle of a city thanks to its small, quiet electric motors. For longer journeys, the eVTOL can then switch over to a gas turbine engine.

Aside from conquering the skies, Honda is also setting their sights to space and beyond.

Honda is developing a reusable rocket system ala Elon Musk’s SpaceX. Intended to launch low-level satellites, components will be partially reusable by landing some of its components after launching.

They are also partnering with the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) to develop a “circulative renewable energy system” which can be used to generate electricity using their hydrogen fuel cell technologies. This can be used for lunar exploration, for instance.
