2024 Omoda 5 SUV Scores 5-Star Euro NCAP Rating


It’s just been confirmed: the upcoming 2024 Omoda 5, in both internal combustion engine and battery electric versions, has just garnered the highest safety rating with a 5-star Euro NCAP rating.

In its recent test, the Omoda 5 scored 87 percent in Adult Occupancy Protection (AOP), 87 percent in Child Occupancy Protection (COP), 68 percent in Vulnerable Road User Protection, and 88 percent in Safety Assist Technology (SAT).

Omoda attributes the Omoda 5’s high crash safety rating down to their R&D focus of emphasizing user interest in the pursuit of quality. Their “super factory” almost fully automates the assembly of the Omoda 5 for consistent levels of build quality. 

In addition, Omoda has their very own in-house crash facility that can subject a vehicle to multiple crash simulations at different angles and speeds.

Omoda integrated safety from Day 1 in the design of its body and platform ensuring that it will score highly in safety tests regardless of market.

The Omoda 5 is manufactured using 78 percent high-strength steel. The crash structure is engineered to maintain its overall structure without deformation in the event of a collision. It also comes equipped with 7 SRS airbags, including an airbag between the front seats, for all around safety.

Confirmed for the Philippine market, the Omoda 5 comes with a full suite of 13 Advanced Driver Assist Systems or ADAS:

  • Lane Departure Prevention

  • Rear Cross Traffic Assist with Emergency Braking
The Omoda 5 1.5 Turbo will debut first with an indicative price of below P 1.5-million by the fourth quarter of 2023. It will be sold alongside sister brand, Jaecoo and the Jaecoo 7 SUV. be joined shortly by the Omoda 5 EV (top photo).
