It took a decade, but Mazda is now offering the MX-5 in an official green color. Unveiled at the Karuizawa Meeting 2026, an event organized by MX-5 enthusiasts, Zinc Green Metallic joins the roster of Mazda colorways starting with the MX-5 soft top and RF.
Mazda describes Zinc Green Metallic as a “modern green that combines toughness and refinement, creating a strong presence while harmonizing seamlessly with both natural landscapes and urban settings.”
Zinc Green Metallic takes its inspiration from the color and texture of zinc chromate primer, an undercoat used to enhance the durability of industrial products. It translates the rational functional beauty into a sense of toughness expressed through color and texture.
In low light conditions, its solid-like texture creates a tight, powerful impression, while in bright light, the delicate metallic sheen accentuates the body’s sculptural beauty, resulting in a sophisticated and modern overall appearance. To achieve this effect, the color formulation incorporates bluish metallic flakes, with optimized particle size and alignment to deliver a cool, refined tone.
Throughout Mazda’s history, the company has offered roughly 80 shades of green with various hues used in the MX-5. This, however, is the first time it’ll be offered in the fourth-generation MX-5.

Seems like the 5th generation MX-5 is just around the corner.
