MIAS 2015: The 2015 Mazda Collection Impresses

Mazda Philippines’s sprawling and intimidating 1,000 square-meter space at the Manila International Auto Show is a strong show of force and for very good reason. Just last year, Mazda achieved a milestone with overall sales almost doubling that of 2013. The end tally shows them selling more than 3,200 units overtaking Subaru in the process. Of course, the giant showcase isn’t just for celebration. They’ve used the occasion to strategically launch 13 all-new or significantly updated new models for 2015. In short, if you’re buying a car that’s not a Mazda, you better hold off that purchase.

And it won’t just be the case of making things roomy for show goers. Mazda says they will bring in 13 all-new or improved models at the show. Yes, you read that right. PIMS 2014: Mazda Launches New 3 Speed Model and Equips Bose on Most of Line-Up

Known for its “zoom-zoom” driving fun, Mazda Philippines is adding yet another reason for buyers to consider getting a Mazda: Bose sound system. Review: 2014 Mazda CX-5 Pro

The bane of sport utility vehicles, compact crossovers included, is their infamy for being gas-guzzlers. Equipped with four-wheel drive this and electronic doodad that, they do deliver outstanding driving performance at the expense of burning a sizable hole in your wallet due to terrible fuel mileage. It’s for this reason why some buyers skip this genre altogether and instead move up to a mid-sized SUV powered by a lean-burning diesel. However, Mazda wants you to re-consider the compact crossover once more; one that doesn’t sacrifice driving performance for the sake of great fuel economy. They want you to take a look at the new Mazda CX-5 Pro.

Mazda PHL Launches CX-5 2.0 Pro

Mazda’s goal of establishing an all-SKYACTIV lineup in the country takes another step closer to fruition with the Philippine launch of the Mazda CX-5 Pro. The award-winning CX-5 model has been the Japanese carmaker’s best-selling nameplate on the local market since its 2012 launch. Now, this new midlevel variant, which slots in between the CX-5 FWD and the CX-5 AWD Sport, provides crossover buyers another compelling reason to pick Mazda’s entry in the segment by pairing the lower-displacement SKYACTIV-G engine with the i-STOP idling system.

Review: 2013 Mazda CX-5 AWD Sport

The crossover utility vehicle or crossover for short is a segment that came about by addressing the needs of the customers who wanted the perks of a sports utility vehicle or SUV together with car-like comfort. Indeed, the modern day automotive industry is a buyer’s market. Gone are the days when consumers were limited to product A, product B, and product C – take it or leave it. Consumers now know what they want, buy what they want, and clamor for what they want. Mazda is one maker who actually listens to their customers and the CX-5 is proof of that.

First Drive: 2013 Mazda CX-5 AWD Sport and Mazda6

They say it’s all about the journey rather than the destination; especially when you’re heading to a more familiar place like Baguio. A trip to the Philippines’s Summer Capital is dime-a-dozen these days and often times, it can be taken on a whim with family and friends. Thus, the only differentiating factor is the drive, and by golly, you need a damn good car to stand out. And on this occasion, prayers to the automotive gods were answered in the form of the new Mazda CX-5 AWD Sport and the Mazda6 sports sedan.

With finely-honed vitality and dynamism, its styling is reminiscent of a cheetah about to pounce on its prey.

Review: 2012 Mazda CX-5 M/T and A/T

Mazda engineers have been burning the midnight oil finding ways to make their cars fun to drive. Suffice to say, they’re trying to make each and every vehicle in their line-up as fun on the road as the MX-5 (aka Miata). This may sound blasphemous, but it’s wholly true: from the 2, 3, and even the 6--Mazdas are fun behind the wheel even if they don’t tend to be the most powerful in their respective classes. But how can their philosophy, the now infamous “zoom-zoom” translate into a compact crossover? Remember, this is an extremely competitive segment, where function largely dominates over fun.

Mazda CX-5 Receives Five-Star Euro NCAP Safety Rating

Mazda’s all-new CX-5, unveiled in the Philippines last April, has been awarded the maximum five-star rating by the European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP).

This rating, alongside being named a "Top Safety Pick 2012" by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) in the United States last March, confirms the all-new Mazda CX-5, which employs Mazda's new lightweight, highly rigid SKYACTIV-BODY, as among the safest cars in the world.

Mazda Philippines Launches CX-5 and Mazda3

It’s been a while since we’ve heard something exciting from Mazda. The brand of ‘zoom-zoom’ has been quiet, not being able to launch a significant vehicle since the CX-7 several years ago. But you know what they say: patience is a virtue. And over the weekend’s Mazda Revolution event, Mazda has unveiled two promising all-new vehicles for the local market: the CX-5 crossover and the all-new Mazda3.

Ward's AutoWorld Picks Mazda CX-5 as One of Ten Best Interiors of 2012

The much anticipated Mazda CX-5 is still to make its debut in the Philippine late this week, but it has managed to garner another honor. This time, it doesn't have to do with the available technology or the good looks, rather it's more about the CX-5's interior. Ward's AutoWorld, the same publication that awards the 10 Best Engines annually, has released the "Interior of the Year" award, and one of the winners is the Mazda CX-5.

Ward's AutoWorld says 40 vehicles qualified for this year's awards by having new or significantly improved interiors. They judged the interiors were judged in areas of design, fit-and-finish, ergonomics, safety, material selection, overall value, aesthetics, and human-machine interface.

Aside from the Mazda CX-5, other winners this year include: Hyundai Accent, Chevrolet Sonic, Dodge Dart, Volkswagen Beetle, Hyundai Azera, Chrysler 300 Luxury, Range Rover Evoque, Infiniti JX35, and Audi A7. It's also worth noting that half of this year's winners are relatively affordable automobiles showing that car makers have really stepped forward with their interior game.

2012 Mazda 3: Zoom-Zoom at a Price

We were the first to leak out the pricing of the 2012 Mazda CX-5 and now, we can ultimately say for certain that the 2012 Mazda 3 will also be unveiled at the Mazda Revolution weekend event that's happening at the NBC Tent at Fort Bonifacio, Taguig from April 21-22.

Now, if you can't wait for an additional week, here's what we've learned about Mazda's new compact car. First, the bad news: the entry-level variant of the all-new Mazda 3 is priced at a not-so-affordable P 999,000. That's right--if you were dreaming of a P 780,000 Mazda 3 like before, you're not going to get one this time around. Still, the P 999,000 (the 1.6L Sedan) comes reasonably loaded with automatic climate control and a complete set of safety equipment. Up one notch is the 1.6L Hatchback at P 1,098,000. There doesn't seem to have any noticeable difference with equipment level though we've noticed that the Hatchback does carry a sportier design (sport package?). Both the 1.6-liter models will be powered by the old 1.6-liter MZR engine with 104 horsepower and 144 Nm of torque. Though these figures won't necessary excite your loins, you can get the new 5-speed automatic with paddle shifters will be a welcome addition.

The last model in the Mazda3 line-up is the 2.0L Hatchback which is pegged at P 1,290,000. Priced precariously to the likes of the better-equipped Subaru XV (and to some extent, the Mitsubishi Lancer EX), the Mazda3 2.0 gets leather seating and a moon roof. The 2.0 is powered by the 2.0-liter version of the MZR with 147 horsepower and 182 Nm of torque. Again, these figures aren't necessarily impressive, but it's good news that at least a 5-speed automatic is standard as are paddle shifters.

Will these rumored/leaked specs turn out to be the final ones? Well, we'll have to wait and see the all-new Mazda3 and the CX-5 at the Mazda Revolution event. As always, we'll be tweeting live from the event, so don't forget to follow us on twitter: http://www.twitter.com/carguideph/

Mazda CX-5 Specs Leaked, PHL Launch in April

The most awaited replacement for the Mazda Tribute and CX-7 is almost finally here! The Mazda CX-5 is reaching Philippine shores by April. and guess what, the pricing and specs have been leaked a full month before the launch date!

Thanks to enterprising sales agents, they have revealed at the 2013 Mazda CX-5 will be available in two variants: a 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic. However, both models will be front-wheel drive. The price for the CX-5 M/T is pegged at P 1,392,000 and P 1,452,000 for the A/T.

The asking price may be hefty, but the CX-5 is the first Mazda vehicle to fully incorporate the new SkyActiv-G technology which boasts excellent fuel efficiency without sacrificing driving fun and dynamics. In the CX-5, a 2.0-liter version of the SkyActiv-G will be used which is good for 155 horsepower and 210 Nm of torque.

Aside from SkyActiv-G, the 2013 CX-5 will come fully loaded including auto on/off HID headlamps, LED tail lamps, 19-inch alloy wheels, leather seating, automatic climate control, an integrated audio system with USB and Bluetooth hands-free as well as 6 speakers. In safety, the CX-5 will come with 6 airbags, ABS, EBD, brake assist, traction control and stability control.

All-New Mazda 3, CX-5 Launching Very Soon

A report on Top Gear Philippines's official website points to the fact that the much anticipated second-generation Mazda 3 will soon be available for Philippine buyers.

In an interview with the website, Ford Group Philippines Assistant Vice President for Communications, Anika Salceda-Wycoco said that the all-new Mazda 3 will be available later this year, but won't be assembled in the Philippines.

The rumor mill is currently speculating that the all-new Mazda 3 along with the CX-5 compact crossover could be made available as early as the First to Second Quarter of 2012 given that Mazda is now running out their inventory of the current 3. In fact, in the latest price list, only the 1.6 S and 1.6 V (both four door models) are the only ones available.

According to Top Gear Philippines's, the Mazda 3 is currently being assembled in Thailand, so it's pretty much certain that the Philippines's supply of the 3 will come from there. Meanwhile, the CX-5 is currently only being assembled in Japan.
