Subaru is Now a Top Global Brand


Interbrand, a global brand consultancy company released their annual list of the 2018 Best Global Brands. With a theme of “Activating Brave,” the 2018 Best Global Brands Report examines the roles a brand strength plays in the “bold transformation of the world’s leading businesses to drive lasting economic value.”

You can check out the full ranking here, but there’s no debating that the highest-ranked automotive company is Toyota at Number 7. The big surprise this year? Subaru, a brand which Interbrand estimates is worth USD 4.214 billion (~ P 227 trillion).

Subaru is recognized for its consistent brand positioning, which embodies the highest levels of safety and functionality, while also instilling a sense of enjoyment that encourages drivers to get the most out of life. This is the first year the automaker has been featured in the report, at Number 100.

  • Mercedes-Benz: #8, +2 percent, USD 48.601 billion
  • BMW: #13, -1 percent, USD 41.006 billion
  • Honda: # 20, +4 percent, USD 23.682 billion
  • Ford: #35, +3 percent, USD 13.995 billion
  • Hyundai: #36, +3 percent, USD 13,535 billion
  • Nissan: #40, +6 percent, USD 12.213 billion
  • Volkswagen: #41, +6 percent, USD 12.201 billion
  • Audi: #42, +1 percent, USD 12.187 billion
  • Porsche: #52, +6 percent, USD 10.707 billion
  • Kia: #71, +4 percent, USD 6.925 billion
  • Land Rover: #78, +2 percent, USD 6.221 billion
  • Ferrari: #80, +18 percent, USD 5.760 billion
  • MINI: #90, +3 percent, USD 5.254 billion
