Lamborghini Is Bringing Back The Countach

This is not a drill. Lamborghini is reviving the Countach name. Lamborghini hasn’t revealed any detail yet beyond the name as well as a car under a cover (see above).

Originally used from 1974 to 1990, it pioneered and popularized the sharply-angled “Italian Wedge” shape—something that influences Lamborghini design even to today. It also adorned bedroom wall of 80s kids, a nostalgia the Italian carmaker intends to recapture with the all-new version.

Unofficial leaks though show that the all-new Countach sporting intake vents positioned right behind the doors along with the words, “Countach LPI 800-4.” This could indicate an 800-horsepower, all-wheel drive supercar. Meanwhile, “LPI” is Lamborghini speak for hybrid. This confirms the Aventador LP-780-4 Ultimae being the brand’s last fully combustion-engined normally-aspirated V12.

Officially, Lamborghini hasn’t revealed a launch date for the revived Countach, but it seems the brand may be holding a preview as early as Monterey Car Week on August 15.
