2022 Subaru Levorg, WRX To Pack 290 Horsepower?

It will only be a couple of days before the world sees the all-new 2022 Subaru WRX, but reports continue to trickle in surrounding its wagon derivative, the Levorg.

An article from Australia’s CarExpert says the performance wagon will be made available outside of Japan solely with a more potent powerplant apart from the current turbocharged CB18 1.8-liter. As a refresher, this JDM engine makes 177 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque, and serves as the direct replacement to the previous turbocharged 1.6-liter.

Meanwhile, the export market all-new Levorg is expected to share the all-new WRX’s engine which is, in turn, shared with the Evoltis (aka Ascent) and Outback

In its current state of tune, the FA24 2.4-liter boxer makes 260 horsepower and 375 Nm of torque. However, for the WRX and the Levorg, this number is expected to push upwards of 290 horsepower with torque going up to about 400 Nm.

Subaru has confirmed that the all-new WRX will continue with a 6-speed manual option. While this prospect is interesting for the Levorg, this is highly unlikely. The Levorg will most likely be available solely with a Lineartronic CVT.

Both the WRX and the Levorg ride on the brand-new Subaru Global Platform, and thus promises higher levels of handling, comfort, and refinement. Furthermore, the Levorg is available with a Subaru-first adaptive dampers—a feature that will surely make its way to the WRX as well.

The top-trim Levorg also receives the latest-generation Subaru EyeSight driver assist system along with a 11.6-inch portrait-style infotainment system, 12.3-inch LCD instrumentation, 10-way powered driver’s seat, and even a power tailgate.

The all-new Subaru WRX will make its global debut on September 10, with the more powerful version of the Levorg appearing soon thereafter. The all-new WRX and the all-new Levorg are both slated to arrive in the Philippine market by early 2022.
