Foton PH To Bring In All-Electric Transvan, Harabas In 2024

Foton Motor Philippines is set to expand its all-electric commercial vehicle offerings by 2024 with the launch of at least two battery electric vehicles. And this is your first look.

Asia’s largest commercial vehicle manufacturer (and known primarily for its diesel powerplants), Foton will be bringing in BEV versions of its Transvan, Harabas, as well as the next-generation Tornado. This is after Foton Motor Philippines made the distinction of being the first one to offer an all-electric truck early this year.

Confirmed by Foton Motor Philippines (FMPI) General Manager Levy Santos before his trip to China, we finally have our first look at the all-electric Harabas (aka Wonder in China).

The Wonder is Foton’s all-new generation mini truck that’s catered to last-mile logistics as well as possible customization by private owners. With that, it’s got a fashionable design and smart cabin for driver comfort and convenience. The e-Wonder (aka e-Harabas?) is capable of a 48-minute charging time and a range of 280 kilometers.

Also shown is Foton’s new-generation Aumark (aka Tornado) light-duty truck. It uses a highly modular platform that can accommodate both combustion engine and EV powertrains. It is produced at the brand’s “Super Truck Plant” that adopts a polyurea spraying process, which improves rust and corrosion prevention by 50 percent. It also meets the highest safety collision standard of ECE-R29.

Both the e-Wonder and the all-new e-Aumark use batteries from CATL, a global leader in lithium-ion batteries.

Meanwhile, the electric version of the Transvan will likely be based off the eView van (above) which is already available in certain markets. The single-motor, single gear eView packs a 115 horsepower (85 kW) and 290 Nm electric motor allowing it to climb up grades up to 20 percent at 5 km/h. Its 50.23-kWh CATL battery pack offers a range of up to 280 kilometers on a single charge.

Santos has confirmed that EV versions of the Transvan, Harabas (and likely the next-generation Tornado EV) will make their Philippine debut at the Foton Big Show slated sometime in 2024.
