Toyota Motor Philippines won’t just be introducing a slew of new vehicles in 2026, but they’re also raising the game when it comes to motorsports.
At the 2026 Toyota Gazoo Racing Philippine Cup (TGR Philippine Cup), the Tamaraw One Make Race will officially join the long-running Vios One Make Race starting this year, adding new dimension to what is already the biggest motorsport event in the country.
Hashimoto revealed that this year, there will be four legs:
- March 13 to 15 – Riverpark, Cavite
- July 9 to 11 – Clark International Speedway
- August 13 to 15 – Batangas Racing Circuit
- September 10 to 12 – Clark International Speedway
Hashimoto is excited at the prospect of racing the Tamaraw, saying, “I recently tried it [Toyota Tamaraw OMR] out at a drifting practice and all I can is ‘wow.’ Why wow? Because it comes with a diesel engine and more torque! The car may be basic but is bold and strong. It has no ABS, no traction control, and most importantly, it is rear-wheel drive. I can learn all driving foundations through the Tamaraw! I can’t wait for more people to experience what this car can do when it is pushed to its limits!”
True enough, the Tamaraw OMR is one of the official new “conversions” offered by Toyota Motor Philippines alongside the Ambulance and Telco Van.
Priced at P 1.35 million, the Tamaraw OMR is based not on the top-spec GL Dropside, but rather, the base Dropside. As such, it comes with a 2.4-liter 2GD-FTV as standard. In stock form, this engine produces 150 horsepower and 343 Nm of torque. Naturally, it has been beefed up for track duty with the following additions/modifications:
