AI-Driven Tech Will Become Xpeng's Biggest Differentiator

Xpeng believes “AI Mobility” will be their biggest differentiation when they launch in the Philippines this September. While the arrival of Chinese brands has made electrified vehicles with impressive range and equipment more commonplace in the country, Xpeng says this isn’t enough. To compete against established brands as well as other Chinese models, they believe it’s all about bringing something genuinely different and that is AI Mobility.

Changing what powers a car is one thing, but changing what a car can understand and do is another.

Founded in 2014, Xpeng designs, develops, manufactures, and markets smart EVs, catering to a growing base of tech-savvy consumers. And with the rapid advancement of AI, it has become its mission to drive the Smart EV revolution using cutting-edge technology to shape the future of mobility.

Xpeng’s focus on AI or Artificial Intelligence can help its vehicles perceive, understand, and interact with the real world. This helps make journeys easier, safer, and more intuitive.

Currently, Xpeng dedicates 40 percent of its 8,845-member workforce to R&D. Their work spans not only traditional vehicle engineering but software (intelligent driving, AI software) and robotics as well. They have key offices not just in Beijing and Shanghai, but Silicon Valley, Munich, and Amsterdam as well.

This has helped shape how they build their vehicles in Zhaoqing and Guangzhou in Guangdong, China. Xpeng’s smart factories use automation, connected production systems, and quality controls supported by AI to improve manufacturing precision, consistency, and efficiency.

Moreover, this has helped them expand their work to more than just cars. Iron is Xpeng’s humanoid robot that applies their research to movement and real-world interaction, while Aridge, an affiliated company, is a low altitude mobility company that helps the brand explore mobility beyond the road.

Whatever the scenario, treating technology as a core capability rather than as an added feature is Xpeng’s advantage.

The Philippines will soon see the Xpeng X9 and L03. The X9 is a flagship intelligent seven-seater that combines executive comfort, intelligent technologies, and a premium cabin for modern families, business leaders, and professionals who value innovation. Meanwhile, the L03 offers a sportier expression of the same vision, combining sporty, contemporary design with innovation for a smarter and more intuitive everyday mobility experience.

Both vehicles will feature Xpeng’s very own powertrain and electrical/electronic architecture (EEA) as well as a full-stack advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS) technology and in-house developed intelligent in-car operating system.

“Xpeng’s arrival in the Philippines is not simply about introducing another electric vehicle brand. We want to help establish AI Mobility as a category in its own right and show Filipino motorists how artificial intelligence can make every journey safer, more intuitive, and more responsive to their needs,” said Sam Chu, General Manager for Southeast Asia, Xpeng. “The X9 and L03 represent two distinct expressions of that vision, but both are founded on the same belief: the next generation of mobility will be defined not only by how vehicles are powered, but by how intelligently they serve the people who use them.”

Philippine specifications, variants, introductory pricing, and availability will be announced at the brand’s official launch in September.

  2. Will it work in the Philippines? I believe it will work on EDSA, SCTEX, TPLEX, NLEX, CAVITEX, and the likes.

  3. Xpeng is a good brand but PH road is not ready for this kind of tech. Even Tesla has chosen not to offer its fully functional Full Self-Driving (FSD) system in its PH units.
