MG Motor Philippines is kicking off its MG New Energy Tour 2026 with the launch of the all-new MG S5 EV. It’s happening this August 27 at the Trinoma Activity Center.
First previewed last July, the MG S4 EV is an all-electric compact SUV designed around the demands of everyday driving. Combining sporty rear-wheel-drive performance with the versatility of an SUV, the S5 EV is positioned to offer an electric driving experience that is engaging enough for enthusiasts while remaining practical for daily commutes, errands, family trips, and weekend drives.
Built on a bespoke EV architecture which it shares with the non-Urban MG4, the MG S5 EV features a Porsche 911-like rear-motor, rear-wheel drive layout. The solitary variant offers 170 horsepower (125 kW) and 250 Nm of torque thanks to a single permanent magnet synchronous motor. A 49-kWh LFP battery gives it 415 kilometers of NEDC range. Charging is done via the CCS Type 2 standard with 7 kW of maximum AC charging and 120 kW maximum DC charging.
The MG S5 EV sports an aero-optimized design that brings down its co-efficient of drag to 0.28. It features checkered flag-inspired DRLs, black 17-inch alloy wheels with aero panels, 215/60R17 tires, active grille shutters, and a functional front air dam. At the back, it also has a full-length LED bar and the same checkered flag LED taillights.
Inside, the new-generation MG cockpit design means having a 10.25-inch instrument cluster and a 12.8-inch infotainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto. It will also sport automatic climate control and a rotary shift knob.
The MG S5 EV will also arrive with a full suite of MG Pilot ADAS functionality on top of 7 SRS airbags and a rearview camera with dynamic guidelines.
While the S5 EV represents MG’s latest move into fully electric mobility, its arrival also forms part of a larger push to help Filipino motorists better understand and experience the growing range of New Energy technologies available today.
Launching alongside the S5 EV in Manila, the nationwide roadshow will bring MG’s electrified lineup directly to motorists in different parts of the country. The tour will feature MG’s range of Hybrid+, Plug-in Hybrid, and Battery Electric Vehicles, giving visitors the opportunity to see the vehicles up close, explore their technologies, participate in interactive experiences, and get behind the wheel through test drives.
The roadshow will continue to different regions in the next months, bringing the New Energy experience to more communities and giving more Filipino motorists the opportunity to discover which type of electrified mobility best suits their lifestyle. For MG Philippines, the goal is to make New Energy mobility easier to understand and experience as the expanding range gives customers more choices when they consider the next vehicle for their daily lives.
Customers, automotive enthusiasts, and the public are invited to join MG Motor Philippines on August 27, 2026 at the Trinoma Activity Center for the official unveiling of the new MG S5 EV and the launch of the MG New Energy Tour 2026.
