BYD Outlines 2027 Plans Including Charging Network To Rival ACMobility's

After setting record breaking sales yet again this 2026, BYD is thinking head for 2027. The New Energy Vehicle leader is looking to fortify its lineup further with a new SUV and expanding to public charging as well.

I had a close look at these new products in China. And knowing BYD, I highly doubt these are all they had under their sleeve come 2027. Here’s what you need to know for now based on what they showed us.

BYD Ti7

BYD is expanding its range yet again with a boxy SUV in the form of the Ti7 (pronounced as ‘tie-seven’). It has the monolithic aesthetic that’s seen in the Denza B5 and B8, but this one is a true soft-roader that’s more at home in the city.

The Ti7 also carries BYD’s familiar combination of technology-heavy amenities and a robust plug-in hybrid system. Its popularity in China is also impressive, with reported sales averaging 20,000 units per month.

I had the chance to drive the Ti7, and it’s a soft-roader done right. Its dimensions exceed those of many familiar midsize SUVs, translating into a cabin that feels exceptionally spacious even for wide people like me. The seats are plush, the cabin is quiet, and it handled high-altitude driving without any apparent trouble.

Its DiSus-C suspension, which features intelligent damping control, also gives it enough capability for light dirt trails. From what I remember, the ride felt even better than that of the Denza B5. Body roll was well managed despite the Ti7’s size, while the suspension dealt with trail imperfections easily. Still, the Ti7 seemed most at home on city streets and highways, where its comfortable ride should make it a pleasant companion for daily commutes and longer road trips.

The unit we tested was a plug-in hybrid equipped with two electric motors, producing around 483 horsepower and 620 Nm of torque. Its estimated driving range exceeds 700 kilometers. BYD has yet to disclose the final specifications for the Philippine market or confirm whether a seven-seater version will be offered locally. What the company has confirmed, however, is that the Ti7 is coming in 2027.

Denza Z9 GT

This one is much more familiar as it was previewed already at its brand launch as well as the first-ever Super Experience Week event. The Z9 Denza GT packs more than 1,000 horsepower and 1,200 Nm of torque, and is available as a plug-in hybrid or EV. Despite those impressive figures, its power is delivered in a mannered way that doesn’t overwhelm the driver or disturb the comfort of its occupants.

The Z9 GT’s styling is bound to be subjective. It has a low, elongated profile, with the rear end cascading down rather than ending in a short, abrupt cut. The headlights, particularly the taillights, may look dated at first glance, but they take on a more modern appearance when illuminated.

The cabin is just as polarizing. The wing-shaped dashboard design can make the front section feel cramped for some occupants, but the rear is considerably more spacious and comfortable. Backseat passengers get air vents behind the center console and on the pillars, along with their own climate controls. The vents can also be adjusted through the digital screen.

Where the Z9 GT truly delivers is in its grand touring prowess. The cabin stays quiet on the highway, the suspension absorbs road imperfections with ease, and it remains remarkably stable even at 120 km/h—China’s speed limit. The seats also hug the occupants comfortably, making it easy to doze off on a long journey.

Denza has yet to announce the final configuration or pricing of the Z9 GT for the Philippine market. However, the brand confirmed that it is scheduled to arrive in the first quarter of 2027.

BYD Flash Charging

Beyond new vehicles, BYD is also preparing to bring its latest charging technology to the Philippines. Called Flash Charging, the system uses a distinct T-shaped structure with two charging connectors, each capable of delivering up to 1,500 kW (1.5 megawatts).

For compatible BYD and Denza vehicles equipped with Blade Battery 2.0, the system can charge the battery from 10 to 97 percent in just nine minutes. Even in temperatures as low as -30 Celsius , it can bring the charge from 20 to 97 percent in 12 minutes. BYD opened its 10,000th flash charging station in China last August, with the network covering 325 cities.

Seeing the technology in person was mesmerizing, even if you’re not particularly interested in EV charging. During the demonstration, a Z9 that started with 33 percent battery remaining reached 97 percent in just seven minutes and 47 seconds. The only thing faster was BYD Vice President Liu Xueliang making drip coffee while we waited. Even a smartphone’s fast charging would struggle to keep up with that pace.

Better yet, BYD says the technology will arrive in the Philippines next year. There is a catch though. The system’s maximum charging capability can only be fully utilized by BYD and Denza vehicles equipped with Blade Battery 2.0. None of the models currently in the local lineup has this battery technology, but the upcoming Ti7 and Z9 GT are expected to have it.

Other EVs can still use the chargers, although their charging speeds will be limited by their own capabilities.

As BYD Cars Philippines Managing Director Bob Palanca puts it, BYD is full of surprises. With the Z9 GT, Ti7, and Flash Charging all lined up for 2027, these developments could just be the beginning of what the company has planned for the Philippine market.
